the teachers

hellisten flew high in the sky with tears running down his face. he had nowhere to go, no one to go to. he was alone in a world that hated him. he knew nothing about this world or about the humans that inhabit it. the only thing he knew was he was getting tired and needed to land. after a couple more hours of flight he landed in a big open field. as he landed he thought of ways to be like the humans if he was just like the humans maybe then they will love him. he was willing to do whatever it took to be just like the humans. with that thought in mind he slowly drift into a deep sleep.

hellisten woke the next morning excited to find humans and learn from them. he set off looking for any sign of humans. after a couple of days he found an empire. he landed at the doors and request to speak to the human in charge. not many of the humans there trusted hellisten considering he just fell from the sky and asked for the emperor but emperor allowed hellisten to speak with him. when hellisten met the emperor he told him his story using hand motions and reenactments and he also told about how he wanted to learn to be like the humans. after the emperor heard hellisten's story he called his personal servants forth. when all the servants were present he commanded them to teach hellisten what they knew. the servants taught hellisten everything they could over 64 years, from cooking to using a sword they held back no knowledge. when hellisten learned everything he could from them, he went to talk to the emperor before he set off to learn more.

"emperor i have learned all that i can from your people and i am so grateful but i must go learn more" hellisten said with a heavy heart

"i understand, it has been an honor to teach you our ways. just remember you will always have a home here" the emperor stated

hellisten took off carrying everything he owned on his back. he followed a map the emperor had given him to the next place. he would stay at a civilization for a lifetime learning what he could and from time to time God would send hellisten to protect people and guide them down the right path. hellisten taught and protected almost anyone who helped shape the earth. he didn't mind it because he also got to learn from them. he love his life of going places meeting people and maybe a few bumps here and there but it was still an okay life.

a few years later he started to hear people talk about places he had once live and how they have been destroyed in search for a winged man. hellisten thought that these were just rumors and carried on with his studies until refuges started to come to his town that he was studying at. they told him stories of armies going to there homes in search of him and when they didn't know where he was, they stole all their valuables and burned everything until there home was nothing but a pile of ashes and moved on to the next place. the only place the armies hadn't attacked was the first empire that took him in. as soon as he learned who their next target was he took flight and set off to save whomever he could.

when hellisten flew above the empire he could see everything was on fire and bodies were everywhere. it seemed like who ever had attacked had already left so he landed in the emperor's home to check if he was still alive. when he walked through the front door his heart sunk, the bodies of the emperor's guards were everywhere. he thought it was still possible that the emperor was still alive so he walk to the door of the emperor's room. he paused for a moment to prepare himself for what he might find when all of a sudden he heard someone scream.

"emperor i am coming don't worry!" hellisten yelled as he bursted through the door

the emperor was lying on the floor with a sword stabbed into him and stuck into the ground. everytime he moved the sword cut him open more. the emperor looked so close to death he could have been mistaken for the other guards bodies dead in the entrance. hellisten pulled the sword out of the emperor and then dropped to his knees as tears streamed down his face.

"i am so sorry this is all my fault they were looking for me. i never should have left" hellisten sobbed

"it's not your fault" the emperor said then his eyes widened as he said "behind you" with his breath.

as the emperor said that a sword stabbed right through hellisten's chest and a woman stepped out of the shadows with a look of satisfaction on her face. hellisten's body dropped on top of the emperor's body with the sword still in him.

"that's for ulric you son of a goat" the women said before running off

"ouch, why do humans keep doing that!" hellisten said as he got up and pulled the sword out of his chest.

knowing that as long as he looked different people would find him and hurt the ones cared about he made a decision to try to look like the humans as well. with that in mind he started to compare himself with the other humans he had seen in the past. he came to the conclusion that he was too tall, his skin was too white, no human had wings, and his teeth were too straight in his opinion. he figured out how to change all those things but he wasn't sure if he should change himself just because of the humans. then he glaced over at the bodies then at his wings and with the quick swing of a sword his wings were cut off and fell to the floor. he scream from the pain but knew that it wasn't over he was still too tall. he grabbed the sword and cut out pieces of his leg until he was about 6'2 and sewed it up. then covered up the rest of his uniqueness with a dark blue hooded cloak and decided not to smile as much. before he left he sewed his wings to dead human to make it look like he died in battle.he started to walk away from the place he once called home to find his next teachers but before the empire was out of sight he took one final look and let a single tear out then left.
