"Agent Romanoff, I would like you to scout a few people out," the director spoke smoothly, but a demanding note in their voice. "Sure thing Fury," she answered, leaning back, "What d' I have to do?"

Fury explained that she simply had to spy and gather information on two young men. He didn't tell her why, but Natasha was curious to see what these guys had to offer if it was interesting enough to have Fury send her on an undercover mission to get intel on their lives. As far as she knew, they were nothing special.

Her plan was to get close to the oldest brother, and he would hopefully open up to her. After all, that is what she had done with Tony, and it all worked out in the end.

She flew to Michigan where he worked at an elementary school as a third grade teacher. She was pleased to see that there was an opening as a secretary in the front office, which was perfect because no matter what, secretaries always learn information.

"Hello, I'm the new secretary, Rebecca Larkins," she introduced herself, holding out her hand. "Mr. Kurt Blane, although my students call me Mr. B," he said, grasping her hand in a firm handshake. Natasha would be lying if she said she wasn't shocked that he didn't seem to be even the least bit interested in her. That was usually her angle on these types of missions, but it seemed as though she'd have to take a different route.

"Ah, you're one of those teachers," she said with a sweet smile, leaning in a little. Miles tilted his head to the side, brows furrowing in confusion. "What kind of teacher would that be?" he asked. "The fun kind," she said lightly, causing him to chuckle and shake his head.

"Well, thanks. I don't mean to brag, but my students do say I'm their favorite," he admitted, somewhat sheepishly. "So you're good with kids, huh?" she said, gently nudging him with her elbow. He backed away slightly, laughing a bit awkwardly. "Yeah that's why I work here."

"You're funny," she laughed, and by now Miles was starting to feel uncomfortable. "Thanks, but, I have to go to class now. It was nice meeting you," he shook her hand once more before turning down the hall.

Natasha's plan was simple. Be friendly, get close with him, earn his trust, and get information about him and his family. She tried doing some deep research on them, but strangely nothing came up. She knew he had something to hide and was good at it too if even Black Widow herself couldn't unfold the truth. All that kept coming up were obviously forged documents. "What are you hiding?" she whispered to herself, typing away at the computer, still coming up with nothing. "Looks like I'm gonna have to do things the old fashioned way," she said, slinging her purse over her shoulder.

The next day, she spotted him in the halls and stopped to talk to him. "Mr. Blane," she called, and he stopped to turn and look at her. "Hello, may I help you?" he asked with a warm smile, which she returned. "I just wanted to see if you wanted to get lunch sometime," she said. He seemed shocked that anyone would ask him that, but he quickly shook the surprised look from his face. "Uh, sure. What day would be good for you?" Natasha knew she had to gauge this carefully. She wanted more information right then and there, but knew he was the type of guy who would never abandon his work to go out. "How about Saturday?"

He smiled at her, "Saturday would be great." They both began to turn away, but he reared back, spinning abruptly on his heels. "Oh I hope it's okay if I bring my dog. I bring her everywhere with me when I'm not at work." Natasha tucked this away in her mind as she waved her hand, "Oh no, I don't mind. What kind of dog is she?"

"She's a German Sheppard. The sweetest dog ever; even my brother who doesn't really like dogs loves her." She tilted her head in a questioning manner, "You have a brother?"

"Yeah, Keegan. Do you have any brothers or sisters?" Natasha shook her head. "No. Alas, I was an only child," she said with a sigh. "Sometimes I wish I had been an only child, but when I step back and look at my life as a whole, I'm glad I had him."

Natasha was eating this up. This Kurt guy was a real Chatty Cathy; there was no telling what else he would unknowingly reveal to her come Saturday. "So, I'll meet you at the park around 11:00?" he asked. She nodded, flashing her white teeth and batting her long eyelashes. "Saturday, 11, park. Got it." She would finally get some answers.
