(Jordan's POV)

"So...where are you living?" Cameron asked as he walked slightly behind me.

"Uh we live in the attic of an old house not too far from here."

"You said we. Who do you live with?"

"I live with my 8 year old sister Melanie. My Mom died in the beginning. My Dad? I have no idea where he is. Probably dead."

I heard the crunching of the leaves behind me stop. I looked back to find him staring at me.

"So. Let me get this straight. Wait how old are you?"

"16" I replied.

"Ok so a 16 year old girl has been living on her own. With her 8 year old sister in the middle of the freaking woods for almost a year? How do you do it?"

I pointed back towards the grocery store. Then to my bow.

"My sister has the rifle back at the house just in case."

"That's tough." he said.

"Isn't anything these days really?" I said as I continued walking.

"Not after you come back to where I'm living."

I whipped my body around which made him bump right into me.

"What makes you think I'm going home with you." I said I pushed my finger against his chest.

"Well I'll pin you to the ground until you finally cave in to me." He grinned down at me. I rolled my eyes. And started walking again.

"You're not making me do anything I don't want to- Wait where do you live?"

"It's safe there. We have running water and food. There are 15 others including my Dad and my 9 year old brother Michael. We live in a run down prison a few miles away. There are other kids there too."

We arrived at the old grayish blue house as he stopped talking. Without facing him, I looked down and said,"Is it truly safe there?" I turned around to face him. "Because I need to make sure that she" I pointed back to the house. "Is 100% safe at all times." Tears started to form in the back of my eyes. "I know she isn't safe here. So if you have a place that you say is safe. I need to bring her there. I just met you so I don't know if you are lying. So help me God if we do go there, and you aren't lying and her safety is not guaranteed. I will put this arrow straight through your head." I held an arrow in my hand twisting it between my fingers. I didn't even notice the tears on my cheeks until he walked up to me and gently wiped them away with his thumbs.

"Have a little faith. I'm not lying to you. It's safe there I promise. You will both be safe."

I looked up into his eyes. "We better be." I turned around and walked up the front steps of the wooden creeky house. I knocked on the door 3 times then 2 to let her know it was only me. Then I slid a small piece of paper through the door to unlatch the lock. I opened the door and slowly walked in.

"Mels?"...no answer. "Melanie! Where are you? Come here I have some one I want you to-" I stopped short as I saw the blood spattered on the wall curling around the corner of the room and my rifle laying in the middle of the floor.
