Why is it that the actual Hetalia series is essentially crack (with a few notable exceptions, such as America's Storage Room Cleaning), but the fandom can go anywhere from crack to angst? Some of the best fanfiction I've read is Hetalia angst, and I write it all the time. Or try to, at least. Nonetheless, I wonder if Hidekaz Himaruya predicted the wide range of fanfiction and fanart that would accompany his series. I also wonder what it is about Hetalia that's so addicting, and why we fanfictioners feel the need to write such depressing stuff!
