2nd Base, here I come

4. Swimming Pool

I woke up from the sun shining in my face once again. I role over and look at my hand, still sore and with a fresh cut.

I washed it out and got dressed into my jeans and white tee. I brushed my thick brown curls into a ponytail and grabbed my baseball glove.

I walked out of my room putting my Astros hat on. James stopped me and gave me some fresh toast. I took it and ran outside to the field.

It was an extremely hot day, but it didn't matter to me. I arrived seeing all the guys sitting down complaining. "What's wrong guys?" I asked sitting by Ham.

He looked over at me smirking and looking me up and down. I pushed his face towards Benny and listened to him speak.

He asked us if were sissies who wanted to wear their mama's bras. I laughed but kept my hand down wanting to actually play.

"With her hand and the heat it is a perfect day!" Ham said. "Yeah, yeah it's perfect." After that meeting we all went home and got dressed into our swim suits.

The thought of Benny shirtless was all I could picture right now. I snapped out of it and threw my glasses on.

I put sunscreen all over my body telling James I'd be at the pool. He was okay with and I began walking to the pool.

When I got there I met Benny and the others all excited. Me laughing, I ran down the street with Yeah-yeah. We were the first to get in, I took out my money and paid my way in, I laid my towel down and took of my dad's jersey.

The boys were in the water as I watched them run into the cold water. "You comin in?" Tommy asked, followed by his brother "Yeah you comin in?" I smiled and got up.

I felt hands touching me and soon my body was touching the cold water. I came back up, gasping for air trying not to go all the way under just yet.

I splashed the guys swimming away, Benny laughed coming over and dragged me back. His hand was touching mine causing me to have butterflies to fly around my stomach.

I blushed and took my hand back. "Y'all are jerks" I said sitting on the edge messing up Smalls Hair. I looked around seeing Squints staring at the lifeguard.

"I kissed her you know?!" He said getting Patts on his back. "Have you ever kissed a boy Taylee?" He asked. "Yes I actually have." Bennys smile disappeared and he looked down.

"We are the only ones who have kissed someone!" He said pushing me. I laughed and asked him how he kissed her. He told me the story getting a laugh out of everyone.

"That's quite the story." I said getting up walking to the snack bar. Of course, typical me got some ice cream, but I also got water.

"Hey! What ya doin?" Benny asked sitting next to me taking some of my ice cream. "How rude. I barley even know you and you take my food?"

I laugh letting him know I was joking.  He smiled and took more, I put my hand on my heart acting hurt. I took the opportunity and pushed him into the pool.

He caught on pulling me with him. Falling into the water, I came up still holding on to him. I looked into his soft brown eyes before Ham came jumping in.

I moved away screaming at the impact on the water. I then punched him playfully and moved back to my ice cream.

Skip

I was left alone with Benny again. "So what's your story?" I said wrapping my jersey to my cold skin. "Are you cold" he said looking concerned.

I shook my head telling him to spill. "Well I'm from here. My mom is single, my dad died too. He was the only one who told me all about baseball. He's the reason I play like I do."

I smiled at him and nodded for him to continue. "My sister is older than me and never really plays much. That's why I play as much as I do. Last summer was probably the best, our lives all changed. "

We stopped at his house and I kissed his cheek.  He blushed and waved bye as I left. I ran to my house going inside hitting my brother.

"Who's that?" He asked sitting back down. "A friend, just a friend.: I stated walking into the kitchen to see dinner.

"I cooked and you were late. You know Taay, you can tell me if you like him." I smiled thinking about today.

"Um yeah... I don't though he is a friend." I said as I made my plate sitting next to him and watching our favorite movie. (Stand By Me.)

I forgot all about my swimsuit until a breeze. "Oh I need to change." I got up and went to change into my shorts and tank top. I ran back down missing my favorite part.

"GO BACK! I NEED TO SEE!" He laughed holding the remote up. I'm short so it's not working out, I'm trying to grab it, then I finally grabbed it, hitting him in the head with it.

The movie ended and I went upstairs to my room. I laid on my bed thinking about everything. "Goodnight Taay!" "Goodnight James!" I felt my eyes get heavy and I turned off my lamp. I was out.
