This morning, I swear I died.
I did it myself. I should be dead. But I'm not. I'm laying on my back in a grassy field, staring at the clouds drifting by carelessly.
Why? Why am I still alive? Why am I still breathing? Is this what the afterlife feels like? Looks like?
There's a sharp pain in my wrist. I turn to see a... dagger? Knife? It's strangely shaped. It cut my wrist by just centimeters adding a bloody trail to my scars.
The scars I've made are just thin lines on my skin now, but they used to be so beautiful, covered in the same beautiful crimson they are now.
So I'm not dead. Not yet.
A shadow covers my face and I look up, seeing a kid about my age with black onyx eyes and raven hair standing there glaring down at me. He looks familiar, but I can't remember where I've seen him.
"Who are you?" He asks, sounding suspicious.
I am no one. I am nothing.
He grows irritated at my silence.
"Who. Are. You?" He asks again.I close my eyes and shake my head slowly, "I don't know anymore."
"Hn." He grunts before walking away.
"Where am I?" I ask to his retreating figure.
"The training grounds." He says in an annoyed 'duh' voice.
Training grounds? Training for what? I look at the knife he threw and pull it out of the ground, examining it closer.
I turn it so it points to my chest. I pull it towards my heart only to be stopped by someone's strong hold on my wrist.
"What are you doing?" He asks, brows furrowed.
"Why do you care?" I ask, staring at him.
"I don't." Is all he says before walking away again.
Why did he stop me if he doesn't care?
My eyelids droop, exhaustion suddenly taking over until I fall unconscious.
----
I jolt awake by a sudden pain in my side and a heavy weight on my stomach.
I open my eyes but immediately shut them again, the orange color too bright to stand at the moment.
"Can you get off?" I ask calmly.
"Ah! Sorry!" He shouts, climbing to his feet.
I open my eyes, and there stands... "Naruto?"
He turns to look at me, "That's me!" He shouts proudly.
What's going on? Why is he here? It's just a tv show, he isn't real. There's no way. This must be a dream. Or I really am dead. Either way, I am here, and I can't help but throw my arms around his neck, hugging him.
He takes a step back, obviously a little shocked at my actions.
Where am I in the series? Definitely not shippuden...
I take a step back and look him over, specifically his forehead. Goggles. He's still an academy student.
"Were you going somewhere?" I ask, and he snaps out of his daze.
"Oh, yeah! I have to go! I gotta get to class! Iruka-sensei is gonna kill me! Believe it!" He turns and runs, I follow closely.
----
We arrive at class a little late, so when Naruto throws the door open, all eyes turn on us. Naruto freezes in place and me, being the idiot I am, run into him from behind, knocking him over.
"Oops, sorry Naru."
I help him up and look around, seeing girls with hearts in their eyes and a very ticked off Iruka.
Iruka finally notices me and I give a greeting smile and nod.
"Who are you?" He asks, watching me curiously.
I don't know what to tell him, so I just give him a random name from another of my favorite anime, "Tohru." I say simply.
"No clan name?" He asks, I shake my head.
"Okay, are you a new student?" I nod.
He nods, then turns to the rest of the class, "Class, we have a new student today, his name is Tohru. Help him if he needs it." He? Him? They think I'm a guy? Oh, well. "Any questions?" A couple hands shoot up and I take a closer look at the class. Naruto is in his seat, his hand up. I nod at him. "Do you like ramen?" I nod, "I do. Though, I've only ever had instant ramen."
I look around again and there is a familiar pinkette with her hand up. I have a feeling I know what she's going to ask. I nod in her direction anyway. "Is there anyone in this class that you like?" I nod. "Naruto." Everyone looks in his direction and he looks in my direction, shock clear on his face. He points at himself and I nod. "Believe it!!" He shouts, standing on his desk. "No... I meant like like." Sakura says, fidgeting. "Oh. Well we'll see. I don't know you well enough yet." I say and give her a charming smile. The girls all melt and some of the boys are blushing. My eyes widen, did I do something? What happened?
Iruka coughs to get our attention. "Well, Tohru, why don't you go sit down." I nod and make my way to an empty seat by Naruto, but before I get all the way there, I see a familiar glare around dark eyes. "YOU!" I shout, pointing an accusing finger at the Uchiha. "You know each other?" Sakura asks. "Kinda..." I say, but before she can ask any more questions, I turn and sit in the seat by Naruto, who is grinning like a lottery winner.
----
When class ends, I have no way out. I am surrounded by girls that are asking me all kinds of questions. Luckily, Naruto is with me. I grab his arm and make a dash to the window, throwing it open and jumping out. Still holding Naruto's arm. He starts yelling about how high up we are.
I release his arm and land, he falls right into my arms bridal-style.
"Don't worry, Naruto. I've jumped off buildings higher up." And died. But he doesn't need to know about that.
I start walking.
"Uhm, Tohru?" Naruto asks after a while.
"Yeah?" I look down at him.
"You can put me down now."
"Oh, right. Sorry." I set him on his feet and continue walking.
"Where are we going?" He asks, catching up.
"Ichiraku's." I say, "I hear they have the best ramen."

Mmmmmmkay..... I'm getting a lot of negatives from my "proof reader". They tellin me I needs to make my character's speech pattern flawless. Multiples of the same word in the same sentence isn't something I should be doing, even if it shows more of the character.
So tell me what YOU think.
