Marquise's POV

You stood behind a human girl who was holding your Vriska protectively. You knew humans were greedy and would do anything to get their hands on something they liked. They would even resort to killing of the mood struck. You yourself had never killed anyone to get what you wanted, because you usually didn't need to, but certainly would if it concerned your daughter's safety. You had been caught by this man about a month ago while you were with Vriska and Aranea. He promised their safety as long as you did his bidding. So far he had held up his end of the deal, until Vriska ran away and he threatened to kill Aranea. Now you found a human girl with your daughter, and she had several cuts all over her. The human had bandaged all of them, but you still didn't trust her with your daughter. "Now you're going to hand over that little runt to me or I will have Marquise do it for you." He said to her. She gasped and whirled around to face you, her eyes wide. "You're Marquise Spinneret Mindfang! Vriska told me about all the cool stuff you've done!" She exploded and you were taken back. Vriska told her about you? You didn't think she trusted any humans with that information. "She did!" The human said. She must have seen the look on your face. Her face was lined with fear but her voice was full of wonder. She spoke in a sort of tone that made you want to get pissed at her but at the same time made you want to say something smartassy to counter her statement. And she spoke with confidence too. No wonder Vriska had taken a liking to her. "Are you even listening to me? Hand over the runt RIGHT NOW or I will have Marquise do it for you!" He screeched at the human. "Excuse me for a moment." She said and set Vriska down and turned to face him. "Well SORRY if my conversation interrupted your little threat to me. Do you really think I'm gonna just hand her over because you think you have control over one of the greatest pirates to ever rule the ocean?" Wait Vriska told her about that too? She turned around again and looked up at me. "Could you bend down a bit?" She asked. You saw that she was looking at that wretched collar he put on you to make sure you obeyed him. You obliged and she started fiddling with something on the back of the collar. You looked up a bit to see that he had pulled out the remote that controlled the voltage on your collar. It also controlled when the charge would be sent through you. It was the most painful thing you've ever experienced, and you would do anything to get it off. "Done!" She said and held up the collar. She had gotten it off! You were no longer controlled by him and you were going to enjoy it. But right as you turned to him he pressed the button that released the charge and the human screamed "FUCK!" and fell to the ground. A wave of strange panic went through you. You have never felt this towards a human before but she was different. You were relieved to find out that she was just unconscious. Fast as lightning you grabbed the collar and threw it into the ocean behind you. You turned to him and snarled. You were so happy to see the look on his face when you did that. You swore he pissed his pants as he ran away as fast as his legs could carry him. You turned to see the human just beginning to regain consciousness. She sat up and groaned. "Oh everything hurts. Why didn't I let go of that when I took it off?" She said to herself and Vriska tackled her. "I knew you weren't dead!!!!!!!!" She shouted and wrapped her arms around the human's neck.

(Y/n) POV

You woke up to everything in your body hurting. You seriously regretted not dropping that goddamn collar as soon as you got it off Marquise. Vriska suddenly tackled you and you almost fell backwards onto the sand. "I knew you weren't dead!!!!!!!!" She shouted and threw her arms around your neck. "It takes a little more than a shock to kill me, don't you worry." You said to her and picked her up. Marquise was watching the two of you. You went a little quiet and looked up at her. Standing up she was maybe two feet taller than you, and it was kind of intimidating. "Um hello. My name is (y/n) and I believe this little troll is yours." You said and set Vriska on the sand between the two of you. She stared at you for a minute, and honestly it was a little unsettling, all eight eyes staring at you. Marquise suddenly bent down and wrapped her arms around you. You squeaked in surprise and you heard Vriska and who you guessed was Aranea inhale sharply. Their mother never showed affection to anyone unless she trusted them. "You're pretty brave, (y/n). I didn't think humans could be different, but you've proven me wrong. Thank you for saving Vriska." She told you and you grinned. "Hey give her some credit too. She's pretty tough, and she can defend her honor." You said and Vriska puffed out her chest in pride. She laughed and jumped up onto your shoulders, almost making you fall over. "Don't you dare drop me!!!!!!!!" She said playfully. You laughed and ran around in circles, earning happy squeals as you swung her around. "She really is different." Marquise said to Aranea as they watched the two play around in the sand. "She might 8e worth a chance, mother." She replied and joined in with her sister and you. "You know what? She might just 8e." Marquise said before tackling all three of you to the ground in fits of laughter.
