(Y/n)'s POV

You lived with your dad, since your mom died of disease when you were younger. You moved from place to place, never staying anywhere for more than a few months. You didn't have a lot of friends, since you didn't stay long enough to get to know them. Your dad was a photographer, and you've come to love it as well. You had your own camera and gear, too. Today you were going to set off into town, since the annual Christmas Market was set up. It lasted a few weeks, shutting down a day or so before Christmas. You were going to snap some pictures to put on your travel blog, which was your pride and joy. You got to the market, amazed at all the stalls and lights. There was food, toys, and stuff like scarves and hats. You took many photos, and it had even started to snow. You decided to get some food, and bought some waffle churros (yes those exist) from a vendor. You sat down at a nearby bench, taking in the sights for the tenth time that night. A little movement caught your eye, and you stood up. There was something behind one of the stalls. You silently crept up, camera at the ready. You never missed a picture opportunity. You saw what it was, and nearly dropped your camera. It was a troll, one of those creatures you keep hearing about. Apparently they're supposed to be super violent and bad-tempered, but this one seemed to be a little small. He was mostly grey with mustard colored spots on his shoulders and back, and he had a pair of feathered wings sprouting from his back, along with double tails. He had dual horns sticking out of a mop of black hair on his head, and he was awfully thin. You stepped closer, accidentally stepping on a crumpled wrapper. He whirled around, letting out a terrified squeak. "Hey, hey, it's ok, it's ok. I'm not gonna hurt you. Look, see?" You said, slowly getting to your knees and putting your hands up. The troll didn't drop his terrified gaze, and you noticed that his eyes were solid; one red and one blue. "You look pretty hungry. Here." You said, handing him one of your churros. He gave you the most skeptical look that you've ever seen, and slowly inched towards you before ripping the food out of your hands. "Hungry little guy, are you?" You said, holding out another one. He took it, wolfing it down. You remembered hearing from somewhere that some trolls could talk. "You have a name, little guy?" You asked him. He gave you that look again, seeming like he was having an internal argument. "My name'th Thollux." He said with a heavy lisp. "Ah, Sollux? That's a nice name." You said. You looked up, noticing that the snowfall had gotten heavier. "I should be getting home now. Don't want to be caught in a storm. You have a family, Sollux?" You asked, since you didn't want him stuck out here either. He didn't say anything, only nodding while yellow-tinted tears started dripping off his face. "Ah, I see. Would you like to spend the night with me? I'll be in town for a few months, so I'll help you look for them." You offered. The troll looked at you in disbelief. He's never seen a kind human, or even heard of one. Humans were very cruel and scary, and they stole his brother and father from him. But, on the off chance that you were sincerely wanting to help, who better to find a human than a human? "You...you mean it?" He asked, and you smiled and nodded. "Of course! But we better get inside, before the storm hits." You said. Sollux scampered over to you, leaping up and clutching your winter jacket. You noticed he was shivering. You got an idea, and carefully dislodging his claws, unzipped your jacket. You zipped it back up around him, really noticing how cold he was. "Is this better?" You asked, and he nodded. You smiled, grabbing your camera and heading back to your apartment. Your dad wasn't home when you got back, so you checked your phone. He had sent you a text.

*Too far to be home tonight before the storm. Staying at the ski lodge.

You sighed. You guessed that it would be better for Sollux, since you doubted that he was comfortable with even one human in the same room as him. You set him on the floor and hung up your jacket. "Let's get you a bath, mister." You said, walking to the bathroom of your apartment. Sollux followed you, not entirely trusting where you were leading him. You opened the door, and he followed. You closed it, locking it. He almost immediately looked more nervous. "Relax, I won't hurt you, I promise." You reassured him. You walked over to the bathtub, turning on the faucet. The loud noise startled him, and he darted behind you, gripping your shirt. You felt his little claws digging into your back. "Watch the claws, love." You said. The water was the perfect temperature, and you waited for it to fill. Once it was high enough, you turned off the faucet. "Are you ready?" You asked, and he bravely nodded. You lifted him up and slowly set him in the water. He inhaled sharply, like he expected it to hurt, but he soon realized how good it felt. "Wow..." He breathed. You smiled at his awestruck face. You dipped a washcloth into the water and started washing his face. He flinched, but you talked to him in a soothing voice to keep him calm. You moved to his back, and you saw the yellow spots were washing off. He whimpered when you touched them. "Oh my god, I'm sorry!" You said, realizing that they were wounds. You washed them as gently as you could, careful not to mess up his feathers. "Who would do this to you...?" You wondered aloud. "A really mean human did thith, and he thaid that he didn't care if he killed me." Sollux told you. You stared at him in disbelief. How could someone be so cruel? "Well, as long as you're with me, I won't let a single bad this happen to you, Sollux. I promise." You said, beginning to wash his dirty hair. You were careful not to touch his horns, and he started purring. You thought it was the cutest thing ever. You took him out of the bathtub, wrapping him in a fluffy towel. You dried him off, and treated his wounds. "You must be awfully hungry. Why don't we get you something to eat?" You offered, and he gratefully nodded. You led him into the kitchen, getting out a bowl. Since you knew he already liked waffles, you decided to make some. Your homemade waffles were legendary. You got ingredients for the batter, mixing them all together. Sollux watched you work, always keeping one paw gripped to your jeans. You pulled out your waffle maker, and plugged it in, waiting for it to heat up. You poured the batter in, waiting for it to cook. "So, if you don't mind me asking, where was the last place you saw your family? It's got to be somewhere nearby." You said. "W-well, mith-" he started. "Please, call me (y/n)." You cut in. "Thorry. The latht time I thaw them wath...a really dark plathe. There wath a window, and there wath a big building with a big thpike at the top." He told you. So it's somewhere around the church... You realized. Your waffle finished cooking, and you put it on a plate, bringing it to the table along with a cup of water and a bottle of honey. "Come up here, love." You said, and he hopped up onto a chair. He didn't quite reach the table, so you took his place and let him sit on your lap. You didn't expect him to drench his waffle in honey, draining half the bottle. "Hungry little thing, aren't you?" You said. You figured that he didn't know how to use a fork and knife, so you let him eat with his paws, figuring that you could just clean them off later. He finished eating, downing his whole cup of water. You washed his paws off, putting the dirty dishes in the sink. He yawned, displaying a very impressive set of dual fangs. "You've had a rough day, Sollux. Think it's time for bed?" You suggested, and he sleepily nodded. You picked him up, carrying him to your bedroom. You set him on your bed, getting into your pajamas. You climbed under the covers, Sollux already asleep. "Goodnight, Sollux." You said, turning off the light. You had almost fallen asleep, when you were snapped back awake by a yelp. Your eyes darted to Sollux, who was sitting wide-awake, blue and red sparks coming from his eyes. You remembered reading something about trolls, and how some of them had special powers. "Hey, hey. Sollux, it's alright. Just a bad dream. C'mere." You said soothingly. You reached out to guide him over to you, but he beat you to it, leaping into your chest, gripping the fabric of your shirt. You felt it becoming wet, signaling that he was crying. "Shh, it's alright, it's alright. I'm here, I'm here." You continued. You rubbed his head, careful not to touch his horns. You managed to calm him down, and you went back under the covers, holding him protectively against your chest. You kissed the top of his head goodnight, and you both fell back asleep.

The next morning you woke up to find Sollux still clinging to your shirt, and his double tails had wrapped themselves around your arm. You smiled, gently shaking him awake. "Sollux, it's time to get up." You whispered. He yawned, showing a rather impressive set of dual fangs. He opened his eyes, and you saw disbelief in them. "I wathn't...dreaming?" He breathed. "No, I'm real. Today we're going to see if we can find your family." You said. "R-really?" He said, jumping up. You sat up, stretching your arms. "Just let me get ready and we'll head out." You promised. After about twenty minutes, you were ready to go. Sollux was practically dragging you out the door by then. "Alright calm down, I'm going." You said, smiling. You lifted him up, carrying him out onto the sidewalk. You began walking to your destination, and you noticed that people gave you dirty looks as you passed them. Since trolls were usually viewed as dangerous animals instead of intelligent beings, it was pretty uncommon to see someone carrying a troll like a child instead of putting it on a leash. Thankfully no one approached the two of you, since Sollux seemed to be a bit on edge, and every once in a while you felt him give off a spark or two. Soon you arrived at your destination, which was a row of buildings lined up in front of the local church. You started looking at each building, deciding which one would most likely be the one Sollux had described. So far the only one that met the description was the last one, which had windows just above the ground that probably led to the basement. Also not to mention the fact that she could see red and blue flashes of light here and there. "That'th the plathe!" Sollux cried, trying to make you release him. "Woah, easy there, buddy. Are you absolutely positive that they're in there?" You asked. "Yeth! I can thenthe their thiionics!" He replied. "I'll take your word for it. I have a friend in this area who might be able to help us free them. Just a little longer, I promise." You said, taking your phone out of your pocket. Time to make that call.

Hey guys! Omg I am soooo sorry I've taken so long to publish this! I've sort of drifted away from the Homestuck fandom, but I will be continuing this story. Not entirely sure when Captors Pt 2 will be out but hopefully, as long as I don't get too overwhelmed with school, it might not be as long of a wait. Also, I can't seem to find and good pictures for the Captors! If you find any, please let me know! You can send it through Instagram, and my username is NoPlaceLikeHomestuck (duh) and my profile pic is Eridan. Or, you can send a link through  messages here on Wattpad! See you then, I guess!
