"God put us here as man and woman, and now people ate thinking they can stray off path because "times have changed". Times may have changed, but sins have not!"

Phil sat quietly listening to the pastor talk about what a sin he was. Gay marriage was just legalized and Phil was enthusiastic about it, him being gay himself but, his church was not. They were going on and on about how bad it was.

Phil looked to his left and saw Dan Howell was sitting in the pew diagonal from him with his parents. The thing about Dan was that he was an atheist, and gay. How his parents had managed to hide it from the church, Phil wasn't sure. He was honestly surprised Dan didn't stand up and shout that he was gay. Back when Dan was in sixth grade and Phil was in seventh, Dan had announced that he was gay to the whole school, over the loudspeaker.

Quite impressive actually, considering Phil had yet to come out to his parents. You can't blame him, can you? His parents were hardcore Christians, he wasn't sure how they would react.

"Phil."

Phil snapped at his thoughts and looked up at his mom. He was so deep in thought that he hasn't realized church was over.

"Sorry, got distracted. I have to go to the bathroom before we leave." Phil said, standing up.

"Okay, hurry up we'll wait outside for you." Phil's mom said.

Phil nodded and went to the bathroom. He lied, he didn't actually have to use the bathroom, he just wanted to think for a bit. It was always hard for him to hear his pastor to say such terrible things about his sexuality. He didn't choose to be this way, Phil didn't see how people could dislike someone for something they can't help.

The sound of a stall unlocking was heard and soon after none other than Dan Howell walked up to the sink beside Phil and Phil couldn't help but wonder how Dan was handling this.

"How do you sit in church and listen to the pastor preach all of that stuff about homosexuals?" Phil asked.

Dan looked up at Phil with a raised eyebrow. "And you care because?"

Phil was mildly shocked with the answer he got, but decided to respond to Dan's question anyway. "It's just you're gay aren't you?"

"Yes, and?" Dan kept up his snappish attitude.

"Okay, what's your problem?" Phil snapped.

"My problem?!?" Dan started yelling. "My problem is that I have to sit here and listen to fucking homophobes like you complain because gay people gained a basic human right!"

"I'm not homophobic! So, maybe you'd like to know what you're talking about before you open your mouth!" Phil yelled back.

"Not homophobic. Sure, let me guess you're not homophobic you just don't support their "decision", right?" Dan said, pouting his bottom lip out at the end.

"No!" Phil yelled, he was getting really frustrated with Dan.

"So you are homophobic!" Dan yelled, pointing his finger accusingly.

"I can't be homophobic if I'm gay!" Phil shouted.

Dan looked shocked for a second, then a smirk slowly crept onto his face. "You're gay?"

Phil sighed deeply." Yes."

"Cool." Dan said, then walked out of bathroom.

Phil was scared and confused.

Why'd Dan say cool then walk out?

Why'd he smirk after Phil said he was gay?

Phil's eyes widened, Dan wouldn't tell Phil's parents, would he?
