"Dan!" Phil yelled as he ran to catch up with the brown-haired boy.
For the past two days Phil has been thinking about everything, from eventually coming out to his parents, to how Dan's parents reacted, to how much time him and Dan have been spending together lately, and it has been putting a lot of pressure on him.
Dan stopped walking and turned around to see Phil running after him. When Phil had caught up to Dan, he put his hands on his knees and tried to catch his breath.
"That's the most exercise I've done, ever." Phil said between deep breaths. "Anyway." Phil said, standing back up straight." I need your help."
"With?" Dan asked.
"How do I do it? Do I just walk up to them and say "hey mom, hey dad, I'm gay. Just thought you should know"?" Phil asked.
"Yeah, pretty much." Dan replied.
Phil glared playfully at him and Dan laughed. Dan wrapped his arm and Phil's shoulders, but something about that just seemed weird so Dan removed it and instead settled for lightly intertwining their fingers.
Phil brushed it off assuming he did this with all of his friends and ignored that fluttery feeling in his chest. Dan began walking as he talked.
"But seriously Phil, its not that big of a deal. You just tell them there doesn't need to be a huge party or anything." Dan said, swinging their hands in between them.
"Have you ever had a boyfriend?" Dan suddenly asked.
"No." Phil answered quietly.
"Why not?" Dan asked looking at Phil curiously.
"Well, since I haven't come out to my parents yet, I figured it would just be a lot of sneaking around and we couldn't be open about it, so I mean I guess I dont think that'd be fair for the other person." Phil explained.
"If they really like you it wouldn't matter to them." Dan said.
Things were quiet for a minute before Dan spoke up again." How about a first kiss?"
"Does first grade dares count?" Phil asked.
"No."
"Then no."
"Really?" Dan seemed genuinely shocked by this which confused Phil.
Before Phil could reply Dan was letting go of his hand and stepping in front of him.
"This is my house." Dan said, nodding towards the house to the left.
"Oh, um."
Phil stopped talking as Dan engulfed him in a hug. Phil hugged back tightly.
"Thanks for walking me home." Dan smirked, as he pulled away from the hug.Phil nodded quickly, trying to hide his blushing cheeks.
"Bye Phil." Dan called out, before walking into his house.
Phil stood there for a second in confusion and shock, then began walking in the direction of his own house.
