"Are you sure it's okay?" I verify again.
"Sam, if I didn't want you to, I wouldn't keep bringing it up" Harry responds. "When are you leaving?"
"Probably about noon so I'll get down there around 5:00 or 6:00. Are you sure I'm not imposing?"
"Sam! For Christ's sake! If you keep asking, no matter how many different variations you do it, I'm going to go mad."
I giggle. "I just don't want to be a bother."
"You never are. I'll see you tomorrow. Night, Beautiful."
"Night. Smooches!"
I hear Harry chuckle and hang up the phone. I am going to drive down to Santa Barbara and visit him this weekend for the first time. I'm excited. That memory of spending the night together months ago still lingers in my memory as if it happened yesterday.
I place my phone on my nightstand and drift off to sleep.
* * * *
I am up before the sun is...I believe some people refer to this time as o'dark thirty or even the ass crack of dawn. Either way you look at it, it is pretty damn early. I quietly get ready and drive into San Francisco. Since I have taken the day off, I figured I would sit in the audience of the radio show and then, head out to see Harry.
I have a seat in the studio and my mind wonders as we are presented with the rules. It's been a good six weeks since I was here last. I doubt any of them would remember me.
Michael has become a permanent fixture on the show. How someone can make traffic funny is beyond me, but he does it. He walks by and takes a double take at me. He follows it up with a smile and a wave. He did recognize me! I wave back. At that same moment, Johnny, Lori, and Louis enter the studio. Louis catches me looking at him and I immediately look away. I can't help it!
The show gets underway and they are all in rare form today. The chemistry between all of them is really good and they seem to bring out the best in one another. Even Lori appears to be less bitchy off the air.
On a commercial break every once in a while, one of them leaves the room to get something to drink or run to the restroom. You can see them walking back and forth through the window from the studio to the production area. I notice Louis and Michael talking outside of the studio during one of these breaks, and I catch Louis looking at me. He is so stinkin' cute!
After about an hour, Michael motions for me to come chat with him outside the studio during another break.
"Hey, stranger!" I say to him.
"It's Sam, right?"
"Yep. What's up?"
"Louis and I are going out to breakfast after the show. Would you like to join us?"
Act calm...act calm...don't scream in his face. "Sure." I answer holding back my excitement as best I can.
I notice him look up at Louis through the window into the studio and give him a head nod. Louis responds with a head nod back and looks away. Again, male communication at its finest. What in the hell did all that mean? Whatever. I return to my seat and continue to enjoy the rest of the show.
Anne is going to wish she came with me. She loves these guys. I'll text her and rub it in her face after the show is over. It'll drive her batty. I smirk to myself at the thought.
The rest of the show went slowly, probably because I was looking forward to breakfast...not sure what I was look forward to more, the food or the company. I'm starving!
