The next day when I stepped down the stairs at the entrance, my gaze wavered towards the tree at the end of the ground. Faded sunlight was filtering through the leaves and everything was same except that the stack of withered books wasn't there and so wasn't Faye Pearl.

I spent the whole day walking around lost in a stupor. A strange emptiness resided in my heart and I never knew I was capable of feeling so hollow. I had missed her 7:00 am smile today and her absence worried me to core of my heart.

Going through the classes dumbly, I eagerly waited for the afternoon because I hoped to see her dancing in the shady halls once again but when I treaded down the hallway that day, something entirely opposite waited for me

Going through the classes dumbly, I eagerly waited for the afternoon because I hoped to see her dancing in the shady halls once again but when I treaded down the hallway that day, something entirely opposite waited for me.

I peeked inside from behind the door and saw that a queue of few ballet dancers was standing at the end of hallway and among them was the red haired girl from yesterday. She was snickering down at something which I couldn't see because a ballet trainer blocked my view.

Shouting down at someone, she sounded very cross. I saw the same pair of silver ballet shoes hanging down her fingers that the red haired girl had held yesterday.  The trainer proceeded to scold the person in question and I made out that the silver shoes belonged to her. By her words, it suddenly dawned on me that she was accusing someone of stealing her ballet shoes.

Just as I wondered who that someone was, the trainer moved aside and revealed a girl sitting down on the floor in a frilled frock. Her head was bowed down and I guessed that she was crying. The moment my eyes met the sight of her figure, she raised her head and I saw tears in her innocent eyes.

The girl was Faye Pearl
