Raman POV

Lagta hai ye log aise maannewaale nahi hain....hmmm...

"Toh chalo" I said.

"Kahan?" They asked eagerly.

"Flashback" I said moving my hand in the air like an aeroplane.

With sparkle in eyes and smile on their faces they followed me to the journey down the memory lane.

15th February, 2016 (6:30 am)

My alarm rang reminding me that it was time to wake up. I tried to reach for my phone kept on the side-table but was unable to rise from the bed due to the weight on my right arm.

I smiled and realised it was her phone that was ringing and not mine. I extended my left arm towards it and just tapped the phone without looking at the screen.

My favourite person, Ishita, was sleeping peacefully on her favourite pillow, my right arm.

Rarely I get to wake up to this mesmerising sight as she is usually up before me. Probably last night's events must have taken a toll on her and she is soundly asleep.

Memories of our first morning after the wedding rush back to me, which too was one of those lucky days like today, when she is still sleeping and I am luckily awake before her.

I keenly observe her sleeping figure. She had her right cheek placed on her left palm, which was just above my right upper arm. Her long delicate eyelashes gently shook due to the air from the air-condition. Her perfectly shaped pink lips curved into a sweet smile informing me of the beautiful thoughts she had on her mind when she went to sleep.

Her left arm is usually placed on my chest and her palm rests above my heart. But today it was wound protectively around her tummy.

If I admit honestly, I was a little jealous about my place being given to the kids who were yet to come. But then I brushed the feeling off and reflected on the beauty of the relationship between a mother and her children.

That hold around her tummy was a protective one to save the kids from every harm, yet it was very gentle as if she was afraid that the kids would choke under its weight. I guess that is what motherhood is all about - a sense of responsibilty that forms right from the beginning. And I believe that is why paradise is placed under Mother's feet and not father's.

We are going to be parents soon!!!
Trust me, this feeling is amazing.
Cannot be expressed in words.

I gently place my palm over hers symbolically telling her that she is not alone in this journey. We would experience this together!

I placed a peck of promise on her forehead and let my lips linger there until the alarm rang again.

"Ishita" I gently called out to her as I turned off the alarm.

Her lips formed a pout and she snuggled closer to me wanting to sleep more.

She looked so cute and I didn't have it in me to wake her up. I decided to sleep some more cuddling her more into my chest.

This was probably the best sleep I have ever had, although it was not more than 15 minutes. The 7 o'clock alarm urged me to wake up as I was getting late for my morning walk.

Ishita didn't look in a mood to wake up yet. So I slowly removed my arm from below her head and sat on the bed loosening my muscles.

A frown had appeared on her forehead on being pushed on the soft pillow instead of the hard muscular one. I patted her forehead gently until the frowns were gone.

I then proceeded towards the washroom for the morning rituals and to change into my track suit.

I was sitting on the couch and wearing my sport shoes when Ishita lazily opened her eyes and took in the surroundings.

"Good morning Jaan" I wished her.

"Good morning Raman" she replied sleepily. "Time kya hua hai?" She asked not willing to leave the bed yet.

"7:22 to be precise" I said looking at my watch.

"Arey aaj toh late hogaya. Aapne mujhe pehle kyun nahi uthaya. Thodi der ruko, mai jaldi se fresh hoke aati hoon" she said hurriedly throwing the duvet away and sitting up with a jerk.

"Ayyo" she held her tummy realising that she sat up just too quickly.

She fearfully looked at her tummy afraid that she had hurt her kids.

I noticed the fear in her eyes and walked towards the bed. I sat next to her and held her shoulders saying "Relax"

"Raman agar unko hurt hua toh?" She asked.

"Come on Ishita. Aisa kuch nahi hua hai" I tried to make her understand.

"Mujhe aur careful rehna padega" she reminded herself.

"I am sure you will be" I assured her.

"Mai fresh hoke aati hoon" she began to get up from the bed.

"Araam se fresh ho lena. Mai walk keliye jaa raha hoon" I told her.

"Aap aaj mujhe sath nahi le jaa rahe?" She asked shocked.

"Nahi. Aaj se tum mere sath nahi chalogi. Ab se kuch maheenon tak tum bas araam karogi. Ridhhima ne bataya ke pregnancy ke initial days bahut crucial hote hain. Isliye ab bas tum rest karogi. No walking, no workouts" I informed.

"Aise toh mai phool jaungi Raman" she predicted.

"Toh?" I asked.

"Toh kya? Mai kitni gandi lagungi moti hoke" she pouted annoyed.

"Gandi kaise lagogi? Mujhe toh lagta hai tum aur cute lagogi" I kissed her cheeks.

"Pakka?" She asked childishly.

"Pakke se bhi pakka" I pulled her cheeks and she smiled.

"Ab mai jaaun?" I asked.

"Ok. Jaldi ana" she said.

"Jaldi kyun?" I winked naughtily.

"Ek surprise hai aapke liye" she teasingly quirked her eyebrows.

"Kaisa surprise?" I was curious.

"Woh toh aane ke baad hi pata chalega" she winked.

"Koi hint toh do" impatience got over me.

"Uuuunhooon" she nodded her head in a no and proceeded towards the washroom.

"Please" I insisted.

"No hints. Just keep guessing. Aapke aane tak aapka surprise ready rahega. Now go" she pushed me slightly and got into the washroom immediately.
