Three weeks had gone by and Jean's injury was almost healed. Eric hadn't let him out of his sight since it happened and Jean was getting more irritated as the days passed. He could understand Eric's worry, but Jean wasn't a little child who couldn't do anything without help.
During these three weeks Jean had regularly been visiting Dr. Willis to rehabilitate the function of his arm. The progress was going well and yesterday was the last time he had to visit. Jean had come far; it was only his slow healing that was weighing him down.
Jean didn't actually think so; the scars that will remain will be a reminder of that time and the fun he and Eric had together that day – not the rogues attacking. The thing Jean was more worried about was Eric and his behavior towards the wound; he felt guilty for not being able to protect his mate. Jean just thought it was stupid – it was his own decision anyway.
Jean had been depressed for a couple of days because the only limb he could use well was just an arm with his other being injured and his legs partly paralyzed. The fall from being the best fighter in his camp at the military to a disabled man in a wheelchair - one that he now couldn't move himself. After being swallowed in self-pity for a few days, Jean shook his head and decided to just do something about the problem.
Which now placed him outside the pack house in front of a lot of sweating werewolves.
"Are you already tired? This was just the warm-up. Do pull ups until you break."
The whole crowd groaned, but did as asked. Jean could feel Dean looking at him throughout practice, but ignored the fact. He knew Dean had been put in his place and wouldn't create anymore trouble. He had even begun teaching the omegas and youngsters of the pack, when they were lacking behind. He really had changed for the better. Jean still had no idea of the promise Dean had made the day of the fight. That he would protect Jean with his life if the need should arise, but he had to be stronger for it to work. Therefore Dean placed all his energy and more into becoming stronger and making Jean, as well as his parents, proud of him.
After an hour, Jean was shaking his head as the whole group lay trashed upon the ground - the thought of being done for the day gave them a little extra energy. What they didn't know, was that they had another thing coming.
"Take a five-minute break; drink water, relax and I recommend you to sit down and take it easy. The time you finished this task was not even 15 minutes – that was the worst time I have ever witnessed. We will continue this training till you can do it for at least 45 minutes or more. Be ready in five."
The pack dropped onto the grass almost instantly and the smaller children went around with water.
"Alright, stand up, the five-minute break is over and we are now training in pairs. You will find a partner and if I don't see serious training, I will switch partners. Understood?...!"
A chorus of 'yes' went through the field and everyone paired up.
"We'll start with hand-to-hand combat, afterwards one will be in wolf form and the other human and last but not least you will fight in your wolf form. Is that clear?..."
"YES!"
"BEGIN!".
Another three hours went by and when training was finally called off, the pack members fell like domino pieces one by one. None of them had any good stamina or enough muscle build. This was something Jean had taken into account to correct.
"Good training everyone. Be here at 2 pm again tomorrow and we will repeat the training. Have a good rest! See you at dinner!"
Jean turned his wheelchair with one hand and whistled. Eric came walking out of the house and smiled at his little marine.
"Hey love. I see that you did a good job."
Eric looked at his pack lying in the grass breathing heavily.
"Well thank you. They really need this training – they're slow, but surely learning."
Eric smiled at Jean. He was baffled that the man always found something positive about the situation. He leaned down and pecked his lips before taking his marine into the pack house to get something to eat.
