The grey sky was filled with clouds and the breeze rushed past me as I headed to the Ionian Isles. Everything started to get darker the closer I got.
The trees seemed to whisper to each other, or maybe it's just the wind. I licked my finger and held it up against the air. I stood still for a moment to see if there was a breeze.
"Do you know what's the difference between trees whispering and the breeze?" I heard a voice behind me ask.
"No wind." I replied, ready to strike at any moment. I slowly turned around and saw a distinct figure behind me.
"Good job." He complimented. He started to lunge towards me, using the shadows to cover his movement. Although, I managed to block his attack by raising my kamas in front of me, blocking his slash. I quickly jumped back and got in a stance.
"It seems like I have taught you well, my disciple." He inquired, looking directly at me. I couldn't see anything behind the metal helmet of his. His eyes glowed a deep red colour that shone through the helmet. He was wearing a full set of metal armour and had a short red cape behind him which flowed softly behind him.
"You don't remember me do you?" He asked with no emotion, but I was pretty sure that he was smiling behind that helm of his. That's when it struck me, it was him.
"Zed.." I quietly said. All of a sudden, he was laughing. My god he looked different. I remember back then he didn't have all that armor. He would never use armor. Well, besides his arm guards and his weapons on each arm (don't know what they are called). He would show his face back then too.
If Shen and Kennen were to see him now, they wouldn't even recognise him as well. They'd be shocked as well.
"So, you do remember me." He simply stated, and started to laugh again.
"I'm not a fool you know." I replied.
"Of course not. You're my student."
I looked away as he said that, and thought of all those times that we were together. What he taught me, what we would do, everything.
"So, what did you come here for?" Zed asked. I didn't know how to reply. I needed to think fast.
"I want to learn the forbidden art of the shadow as well.." I suddenly blurted out.
"Oh really?" He replied in a teasing tone."Let me ask you. Why?"
"Um.." I struggled to reply. "I wanted to become stronger, and I figured that this is the best way."
"..Or do you just want to be with me?" He teased. I was suprised, but I didn't show it because I didn't want him to take advantage of me. I can't believe he actually said that. Zed never shows his playful side to anyone. Well, he only shows it to me.
I quickly turned my head to one side, my cheeks getting hotter every second. In a blink of an eye, he was up close to me. His hand holding my cheeks making me stare at him.
"G-Get off me." I stuttered. Behind the mask, I could tell he was giving me a smirk. He let go of me and gestured me to follow him.
I slowly walked behind Zed, taking in all the surroundings. Everything got darker and darker. For a moment I thought I had lost Zed, but he grabbed my arm and dragged me along.
Not long, we had reached their training grounds. My god, it was a wreck. All the buildings were collapsed and it had a heavy atmosphere. The dirt was mixed with ashes and there wasn't much light. It was dark, but you could still make out everything. I felt sick just standing here, the air was so stale.
"You feel sick don't you?" Zed asked."Follow me."
I walked further with him in front of me, leading the way. I could see something up ahead. It was a building. Light flickered from the inside, giving it an eerie tension.
"You will be staying here," Zed explained."With me."
"What?!" I exclaimed, not knowing what to say.
"There's no more room in where my students live in," He explained."Plus, if there was, I don't trust them or you being with each other."
I walked inside because I couldn't take it anymore. The air was making me feel really sick. As I walked inside, fresh air rushed past my face.
"Uwaaah.." I sighed out loudly, before realising that Zed was behind me. I walked in quickly, feeling embarassed of what just happened.
Here I was, being with Zed, my mentor. There was no balance here at all. I felt out of place and sick. Will this plan really succeed?
