Act 2
WEDNESDAY is sitting in MS. LUCILE' s sleeping chair rubbing her boo-boos. MANDY, CHARLESTON, and LOUISE are circled around her. MS. LUCILE is cleaning up blocks. Lights come up.
Mandy (sympathetically). Are you ok, Wednes'?
Wednesday (wiping her tears). Yeah. I think so. Ms. Lucile says that I should be more careful.[LOUISE walks up and pokes WEDNESDAY's boo-boos.]
Louise. Tooolldd yaa sooo. Where were your listening ears, huh? Not on your head?
Wednesday. I think I left them at home. My mommy was in a rush this morning. My brother keeps waking up late. He must never have his listening ears on cause he never hears his alarm.
Ms. Lucile (Worn-out). Ok precious toddlers. (Singsong voice). Circle time.[The babies get excited as they start jumping and shaking for circle time.]
Charleston. What do you think we're gonna learn today, guys?
Louise (sarcastically). We do learn different things everyday.
Wednesday. So what day is today?
Louise. It's toothsday, Wednes'.
Charleston. I have teeth.
Wednesday. Ugh.[MS. LUCILE begins clapping causing the babies to focus their attention to her. They attempt to all stand up and walk over to MS. LUCILE. WEDNESDAY slips on one of the blocks and falls over causing all of the other babies to trip over her.]
Louise, Mandy, and Charleston. WEDNNESSS!
[MS. LUCILE walks over and moves each baby individually to the carpet and then pulls her sleeping chair and a duffel bag into the center of the mat.]
Ms. Lucile. Okay guys so today the (takes in a deep breath and speeds up). Special, awesome, super duper, fun circle time topic for today is . . .
[MS. LUCILE reaches into a bag and goes for a plush bee and makes a "drum roll" sound with her hands.]
Bees. Buzzz. Bees make honey from pollen that they collect from flowers and put on their little buzzing booties.
[MS. LUCILE points bee's stingers towards babies while they try to grab the stinger.]
That is called a sting--er. Don't let a stinger sting you because then it will sting and traumatize you poor babies. Okay so who
[MS. LUCILE reaches into her bag and pulls out a jar of honey, spoons, and puts bibs on babies.]
Wants to be the first to try some all-natural honey? Wednesday how about you being that you got a boo-boo earlier.
[WEDNESDAY crawls toward to MS. LUCILE and takes a lick from the spoon. She turns around and spits up the honey onto CHARLESTON causing him to scream then cry.]
Charleston! Oh my god. Your clothes are dirty you poor little precious toddler. (Baby talk). We have to get you all cleaned up.
[Lights fade out.]
