|Elizabeth|
"Can anyone give me the formula for Celsius?" My physics teacher, Mr. Banks asks around the room. It was into the middle of the year, the second semester of my senior year of high school. I immediately raised my hand, which happened almost all the time in this class.
I notice an orange hand go up in the air. I roll my eyes, must be one of the O'Donnell sisters, who weren't particularly bright. Well, Vivianne wasn't so dumb, unfortunately, the same couldn't be said for her twin sister, Penny.
Mr. Banks's eyes roll. "Penny?"
"What's Celsius?" She asks, with a questioning look on her face. I mentally roll my eyes at the rest of the classes laughter. I pitied her too, because she really tried in these classes, yet she always fell short.
"Enough, class! Elizabeth, can you answer the question for Penny, and please answer my question too?" My physics teacher asks me. I nod my head before I give my answer.
"Penny, Celsius is the scale of temperature in which water freezes below zero degrees and boils above a hundred degrees. That is, when it comes to certain conditions." I see her face come to terms with it, even with a bit of confusion. I sigh and continue, "it deals with the weather and they standardly use it in Europe. Although, we use it here too."
"Ohhhhh, okay. Thanks, nerd," I roll my eyes at that remark. Sadly, what she said was true. I was a bit of a nerd.
"Mr. Banks, to answer your question, C, which is Celsius, equals five-ninths times F, which is Fahrenheit, minus thirty two," I answer. He nods, verifying my answer. I smile to myself and look beside me at my lab partner, which happened to be one of my best friends, Jamie.
"You really need to tutor me sometime to be as smart as you," she says, making me laugh. Although she was somewhat serious, she usually spent her time making out with guys. Her and I were almost complete opposites, except for our taste in music, to some degree.
"Maybe, when you stop making out with the whole school population of boys," I joke. She laughs at this remark before sassily retorting, "Baby, I was born this way, to have better time spending on my looks than reading books."
I roll my eyes at her small Lady Gaga reference.
"Ladies, would you please not interrupt the class?" Mr. Banks asks politely.
"Sorry, sir," I say, embarrassed. Jamie giggles and records more notes for the class. She writes me a personal note.
'Liz,
I need to tell you something after class. Meet me at the cafe with Iris.
xoxo Jamie'

"Absolutely not!" I exclaim to my friends, looking at them dumbfoundedly. They had asked me to go to a party, only to be turned down.
"Look, Liz---" Jamie begins to say, before I interrupt her.
"No, Jamie! I can't go! You know that, you know what kind of mother I have, she'd flip!" I say before Iris budges in,
"Look, Lizzie. You can't live the rest of your life without going to a party. You used to be the party girl in middle school. I don't know how that's changed."
"Iris, people change. I know, I need more fun in my life, but ever since my dad left my mom, she's had a really hard time fitting in," I exclaim, running my hands through my curly, blonde hair. "I just can't do it right now." As soon as I say this, my two best friends look at each other devilishly. Oh no.
"You're coming with us, whether you like it or not. You need to go out with us, and I don't give a damn if your mom grounds you, you blame it on us," they both say, alternating between sentences. I sigh, I didn't have a choice now.
Little did I know how much of an impact this party would have on everything.
Quick Note From The Author: hey guys! Welcome! I hope you enjoyed the introduction of "My Mentor From Hell"! The mentoring part will come in later, I promise.
Shailene Woodley (with curly hair), is how I picture Elizabeth. If not, picture her as whoever you want.
Love ya and until next time!!
Also, please keep in mind that Iris and Jamie are good friends, they just want Liz to break out of her shell.
I'm sorry for the shortness of this chapter, but I'm trying to have the party scene in the next chapter. Most of these chapters will be in Elizabeth's POV, but a couple will be in Cole's.
Let me know if you have any questions in the comments below or if you want to see Cole's POV.
