Josh had been out getting pizza for Simon, his wonderful husband of three years, and their two adopted children who had been recently settled into their family and their lives. Josh thinks fondly of his small family as he's driving home from the pizza place.
Simon and him had been together for six years, three of those spent being married. They had only recently adopted two young children who were both around three years old, and they have been content with their family ever since. The little blonde boy, Jacob, and the slightly taller brunet girl, Sara, settled in better than the married couple expected. The children warmed up to the two fast, and started calling them daddy and papa within weeks, something the social workers told them would take at least a year. With the two new additions there is always a happy feeling in the home, a strong feeling of love and compassion blankets the family everyday.
Josh had finally made it home, opening the door and calling out to his family that dinner had arrived. Getting no response, he left the pizza on the kitchen counter to go find his husband and children.
Laughs came from the living room, so Josh peeked his head in, and the sight before him made him laugh as well.
Simon held both children, one in each arm, and was stood wide legged on their couch, one foot on each end.
Simon looked up at Josh and smiled.
"Josh! The floor is lava! Be careful!"
The children then joined in with a chorus of,
"Be careful daddy!"
And
"Come save us!"
Josh chuckled, jumping up on a couch opposite his loved ones and tried to make his way to them without touching the ground.
Needless to say, the pizza got cold and the family ended up in a laughing mess on the ground.--
I liked imagining them having a family, it made me make weird squealing noises
