Chapter 7

I looked at the score board, we were down 7. The bulldogs had us by our balls, literally. The temporary coach, Collins was cussing up a storm, how the hell were they supposed to win with him yelling like that? On more than one occasion I saw some of the coaches’ walk up to him to say something but he brushed them off and continued screaming.

“There’s no way we’re going to play for a guy like him!” Daniels yelled behind me.

Daniels’ was the second string quarterback. He was almost as good as the first string but for political reasons he was placed as second string. I’ve read the stats on almost every player we had. So I knew who could tuff it out and who couldn’t. Daniels could defiantly tuff it out. Collins blew his whistle and special teams ran out on the field to kick a field goal, trying to catch up on the score. Pretty stupid if you ask me, we need a touchdown and the field goal to tie up the game. Evidently Collins didn’t think so, Collins was also the kind of man I tried to stay away from.

“If you don’t get your asses together you’re going to do sprints until your legs fall off!” Collins was yelling at the boys who just came in off the field. Among them were castle and Campbell, the very two I would like to karate chop in the face, but now just wasn’t the time. Castle muttered something under his breath that I couldn’t quite hear. I looked back at Daniels before walking to my brother, John was setting up plays for the next few minutes trying to find a way to get a few extra points.

“They can’t play like this, john. Dad never screamed at them like this.”

John looked up from under his baseball cap; he was chewing on the end of a pen cap.

“Don’t you think I know this? Jess, Collins won’t listen to any of us. If you want to talk to him, be my guest.” My brother rudely motioned me toward Collins. Well excuse me for caring, I swear if you want something done right, get a woman to do it. I may not have my crutches this time but what I do have is my serious devotion to this team and not to mention my sarcastic wit.

“Collins.”

The balding man turned around, he was a lot larger than I had previously thought.

“What?” he yelled at me.

“You yelling at them is not going to make them play better.”

He raised an eyebrow then looked around at the rest of the team.

“There sending a little girl to save them from the big bad coach?”

That pissed me off more than anything! I was not a little girl anymore and I know that I know more than this pig about football.

“Excuse me? Little girl?”

“YES, Little girl, you need to get out of my way before I make you, just because your daddy used to be coach doesn’t mean shit.”

Ah, ha so he was trying to play my dad. The team looked at him then me; they were so engrossed in our conversation that they hadn’t realized the final buzzer rang, the field lights shined down on us without mercy.

“You’re driving this team into the ground, god damn it!”

“Oh, is that it? I’m doing it? This team gave up a long time ago, so STOP trying to change it!”

Collins was so close to my face I could see the dirty brown color of his eyes.

“I could change it! I could make it better then you ever would!”

By this time I was so into the argument that I hadn’t realized the whole team stood and watched us, including the coaching staff.

“You’re a girl!” Collins sneered

“Oh and because I have a Vagina I can’t coach a team?” I threw my hands in the air; seriously what was it with men today!

“You want the team?”

He didn’t give me a chance to answer

“FINE! It’s yours, it’s hopeless anyway! Good luck, bitch!” Collins stomped off the field without looking back. Is this what I wanted? NO, what have I done? I mean I know I could coach a team no problem but coaching is my dad’s job. I looked around at all of the faces looking at me, most of them their jaws were on the floor.

“About damn time that asshole walks off the field.” Someone muttered.

What did I just do?

(AN: ok so im not entirley sure if i wanted it to play out this way just yet, but it works i think lol :) please please, vote, comment and fannn! :))
