Chapter Forty-Two: Back At It Again

I rolled my eyes once the clock turned seven. School was back on and my break wasn't much of a break.

I think I deserved a better break than this.

"Maggs! You're gonna be late!" Alex yelled downstairs.

A groan slipped through my lips. Why did I have to go to school? It's only been seven whole days and I haven't slept a decent amount of time! I only slept seven hours each day which I think isn't good for someone like me.

"Are you sure Reese isn't picking you up?" Claire yelled from her room. She still needed to rest and had gotten more sleep than me.

"Pretty sure," I confirmed.

I actually didn't know if he would actually pick me up, but still.

"Now that you don't have a boyfriend, it's time you get your grades up," Alex said as he drove me to school.

I sunk into my chair when he pulled out an envelope from his jacket. Handing it to me, I reluctantly took and teared the damn thing open. All my grades (one fail) were on there.

"You kept this away from Claire and Harry?" I asked.

"For your own benefit. But only this one time. They'd both kill you if they saw those grades."

So far I had two B's, three C's, and a stupid fail. A fail that would take me a while to get back up. Winter Break was in a month and I didn't have much time to recover from this.

"And I'm also taking you to driving lessons on Saturday," Alex said.

My head slowly turned towards him with a smile curling at the corner of my lips. "You're what?"

"Taking you to driving lessons. You need to start learning how to drive so you don't waste my gas," he chuckled.

I smacked his arm. "Do you know my instructor?"

A smirk appeared on his lips. "You're looking right at him."

"Why you?" I whined. He stopped the car abruptly as he took a sharp turn into the lot of the school. "Ow. . ."

"Why not? I'm the best one you could ever get."

I'd rather get Reese, I thought. "You always yell at me whenever I do something wrong. And you'll yell at me when I'll probably crash the car by accident."

"Okay, that's not gonna happen, because you have the best instructor. You won't crash and I promise no yelling."

I rolled my eyes as I got out the car. "I highly doubt that." With that I walked inside the school, going to my locker until someone slammed it shut.
