he spends the rest of the night catching up with his friends, laughing and eating the overcooked dinner that he had prepared for them but they don't mind at all.
he appreciates the fact that they don't give him a lot of crap for his severely poor cooking skills.
"remember the turkey that jongin made last thanksgiving? my piece literally had droplets of blood dripping from it, i nearly puked" jongdae reminds the boys, making them all erupt in a series of loud laughters.
"i actually liked his soup though" baekhyun says, gaining weird glances from everyone but sehun, because he feels the same. jongin is better than him anyway.
"so we heard about your neighbor" chanyeol suddenly says in the middle of the conversation, catching sehun off guard and making him nearly choke on his food.
"w-what?" he asks awkwardly after regaining his posture and clearing his throat, his gaze set on the table because no one has brought this topic up to him before.
"do you know what happened to her?" chanyeol enquires, already beginning to make sehun feel uncomfortable.
"no, i was sleep-"
"but they found her on your porch" chanyeol interrupts before sehun can even finish his sentence, earning a light slap on the back of his head from jongdae.
"not now" sehun can barely hear when jongdae whispers in chanyeol's ear.
"you shouldn't believe everything that the news tells you" sehun fakes a chuckle, not meaning to come off as irritated but fails to do so, making the boys look at one another nervously.
"listen sehunnie, i- we've just been worried about you and we want to make sure that you're alright. we trust you" baekhyun jumps in, trying to cut the tension in the air. sehun only nods silently in response before getting up from his seat and disappearing into the kitchen.
why does chanyeol have to ruin my mood like this? he thinks as he tries to occupy himself with washing the dishes but the sound of the door shutting catches his attention instead.
they always leave when im busy with something else and not them.
