Inside the building (Demona's POV)
I rocked the girl back and forth. The air felt thinner as the time went on and the dust and dirt didn't hep it either. The girls eyes were weak and tears threatened to come out of them.

"Can you sing me a song, miss...." The girl stopped her sentence and tilted her head at me.

"It's Demona. And I guess I could. What song do you want me to sing?" I looked down at her as if she wanted to her a soft melody before she would leave this world and into another.

"Pick a song you know. Something that your mother sang to you when you were sad or couldn't sleep." She said tiredly as she coughed dust up.

A song was playing over and over I my head as I looked down at her, "I know a song and my mom use to sing it to me. It was from one of my favorite movies when I was little." I inhaled the unfiltered air and slowly exhaled.

"Lavender's blue, dilly, dilly,
lavender's green,
When I am king, dilly, dilly,
you shall be queen.

Who told you so, dilly, dilly,
who told you so?
'Twas my own heart, dilly, dilly,
that told me so.

Call up your men, dilly, dilly,
set them to work
Some to the plough,
dilly, dilly,
some to the fork,

Some to make hay,
dilly, dilly,
some to cut corn,
While you and I,
dilly, dilly,
keep ourselves warm.

Lavender's green,
dilly, dilly,
Lavender's blue,
If you love me,
dilly, dilly,
I will love you

Let the birds sing,
dilly, dilly,
And the lambs play
We shall be safe,
dilly, dilly,
out of harm's way

I love to dance,
dilly, dilly,
I love to sing
When I am queen,
dilly, dilly,
You'll be my king.

Who told me so,
dilly, dilly,
Who told me so?
I told myself,
dilly, dilly,
I told me so."

I whispered the last line as I saw the girls eyes flutter open then close.

"I know that song. My aunt use to sing that to my cousin and me whenever I came over. It's funny because you have the same name as her." Her smile was faint as she tried to keep her eyes open for a little bit longer.

"Wait..." I peered closer at her features and finally said, "Cassey... Is that really you?!" Tears streamed down my face as they left trails on my cheeks. I pulled off my hood and showed her my face.

"Demona.... I-it r-really I-is y-you." She cried with me as I pulled her in to my chest as I cried even harder.

"I-I k-knew I-I w-would f-find y-you a-again." Her eyes closed fully as she took her last breathe.

"Cassey.... Cassey!" I yelled her name as I shook her body.

"No... No... No... No...." I felt so much anger course through my veins and I felt something snap in my body.
I held her in my arms with anger that flamed and clouded my eyes like the dust and dirt in the air. I start the kick everything out of my way making it to the outside world.

Damian's POV
I helped the emergency crews clean and shift the rubble but then I heard the sound of things being thrown or kick forcefully around from inside the building. I move back just in time to to see a dark figure holding a limp body. I recognize the girl who came out but not the girl in her arms. I wanted to embrace her but there was a dark aura around her and her eyes showed nothing but hatred, anger and sadness. The medics came over and Demona place the body of the girl on the stretcher. The medics examined her and said that she was alive but very faintly. They took the girl away and Demona just stood there in the spot where she had seen the girl get taken away by ambulance.

"Demona... Are you ok?" I finally had enough courage to ask her that question. She clenched her fists and her eyes shot open and turned her head to me slightly.

"I'm going to kill the Joker!"
