Lisa's POV
It was around 8 when I got home from visiting Ty. Normally I would've stayed longer but I decided to let him sleep early to get over the jet lag. I had a great time and I was so glad he was back from his trip. It wasn't like I was dying without his presence, but it did get pretty boring at times. I was just glad he got back safe. He meant a lot to me and I don't know what I would do if I ever lost him.
I walked through the door to see my sisters all sitting on the stairs like they were waiting for me.
"LISA!" they all yelled, the second I walked through the door.
"Yo, wassup dawgg" I replied.
"Let's talk somewhere more..." Dani looked around over her shoulders and behind her as if she was some secret spy, "more... confidential" she whispered and dragged me up the stairs.
Oh boy, I think I know what this is about. They're going to ask me about my day and if I like Ty. Doesn't anyone in this family believe a girl and a guy can JUST be friends?
Soon we were all in mine, Lauren's and Dani's room. Me and Lauren were sitting on my bed, Katherine and Amy were sitting on the bottom bunk of the bunk beds, Christina was sitting on the top, and Dani was lying on the floor of our room.
"So... how was Ty?" Christina asked, winking at me.
"Guys, come on. Drop the act. I know what you all want, and I'm telling you. I don't like him. Not at all! I mean... I do like him but I don't like like him. I mean I like him as a friend. Not a boyfriend. Like as in a friend who's a boy but isn't my boyfriend. I don't like him like, like like him. I mean..." I said, confusing myself more with every word that came out of my mouth.
I looked over at my sisters, they all looked majorly confused about what I had just said.
"The point is, I don't have a crush on Ty. He's my BEST FRIEND! That's it." I explained.
"But how did you know what we were going to ask?" Dani asked, pretending to be truly shocked about it.
"Come one guys. Seriously? You all did the same for Laur and Jeff." I looked over at Laur who started blushing.
"Why'd you have to say me? You could've said about Amy and Lyall." Lauren said to me.
"Whatever Laur, don't be a cry baby. You were right next to me." I poked my tongue out at her and she poked it back. We smiled at each other.
"Look, the main thing is I don't have a crush on Ty ok? Now is there anything else you would like to talk about or is that all?" I said looking plainly at each of them. After a while of no one saying word I finally said, "Good, because I'm hungry."
"He didn't even buy you food? What kind of guy is he? And they say chivalry isn't dead..." Christina started.
"Chrissy calm down! We ate Subway. But that was like 2 hours ago. Obviously I'm hungry again!" I said and left the room, my sisters following me.
"So, what's there to eat?" I asked them, looking through the pantry.
"Well we had pasta, as requested by Laur," Kath said, "But I don't think there's any left."
"Well that's great..." I said sarcastically. Then I realized this was a great opportunity for pizza. "Let's get pizza! You guys wanna eat too? I can't eat a whole one" They nodded and I reached for the phone to call for pizza.
20 minutes later, the pizza arrived.
"Pizza's here!" Amy yelled.
I paid the man and we went to eat.
"Who wants to pray?" I asked
"I'll do it!" Dani volunteered. "Lord thank you for the food and I pray that you bless it and help it give us energy for the rest of they day. Amen"
"Amen." We all said
Dinner that night, well second dinner that night was just all us girls. It was pretty uneventful and when we were done we all retreated to our rooms.
Dani and Lauren were having random competitions in our room so I felt a bit left out. I left the room and headed to the room Christina, Katherine and Amy shared. Katherine was outside writing poetry and Amy was outside with her playing guitar so it was only Christina.
I walked in to see Christina on twitter.
"Hey Chrissy" I smiled at her.
She shut her laptop and came over to me.
"Hey what's up?" she asked
"Oh nothing. Just bored." I told her
"You sure? You don't need to talk or anything? You okay?" she asked questioningly
"Yeah I'm fine Chrissy. Don't worry." I gave her a warm smile. "But can I ask you something?"
"Sure." she replied cheerfully
"Why do you guys always assume I like Ty? I mean, there's nothing wrong with that. I don't like him. But why do you think I do? I mean, do I act like I like him? What makes you think that?" I asked her.
She sighed and smiled at me. I sat there eagerly waiting for her response.
"You know we're just kidding around with you. If you say you don't like Ty we believe you." she paused and smiled at me then continued, "But if you do like him, we'd like to know," she went on giving me a wink, "Lise, it's fine if you like him. You're 20. You're practically a grown woman. You're not a kid. It's fine if you like him. We're just teasing." she smiled
"Alright Chrissy." I told her
"So you DO like him?" Christina asked straight away.
"I do not! He's my BEST FRIEND. Girls and guys can JUST be friends can't they Chrissy?" I said to her
"Ok, don't worry I believe you. But be careful Lisa. Just promise you'll be careful." she said to me.
I was a bit confused at that?
"Careful with what?" I asked her
"With everything. With him. With your friendship. With love. Look, here's the thing, when a guy is close friends with a girl, sooner or later one of them starts to fall for the other. Maybe they both feel the same way and they turn out great, but sometimes only one of them starts falling and the other doesn't and sooner or later their friendship goes down in ruins. I hope in your case, it'll be the first option. Or maybe even better for you if you want, you'll just stay friends forever. And that's fine too Lise. Just be careful. If you're not the one falling, maybe he is. Just don't hurt him or yourself. You guys have a great friendship." she explained to me
"Thanks Chrissy," I smiled genuinely at her, "You're a great sister, you've always been there for me and you're just a great person in general."
"That's ok, that's what I'm here for. If you ever need to talk about Ty or anything, I'm always here for you. I'll always stop what I'm doing to talk. You don't have to think you're interupting anything because nothing could possibly be more important than the health, happiness, safety and well being of my siblings. I love you Lise, I'm always here for you." she said genuinely
"I know that, and I'm always here for you as well" I said pulling her into a hug.
After that I left back to my room. What Christina said had really got me thinking. I knew I wasn't falling for Ty. Does that mean he's falling for me? Nah, it can't be. We're just friends... aren't we? We're best friends. JUST best friends. Ty doesn't like me. He's just my friend. My best friend, who just happens to be a guy. Ty doesn't have a crush on me. I don't have a crush on him.
Maybe we'll end up like that other group of people Christina mentioned. Just staying friends forever. Yup, that's what we are. Friends to the end, nothing more, nothing less. He doesn't like me. Stop thinking of crazy stuff Lise, go to sleep.
But the last thought in my mind was whether Ty actually liked me or not. I mean I could tell myself he didn't, but did I really know that?
We're friends... best friends. Nothing more, nothing less. And with that thought, I fell asleep.
