Chapter-12

Emmett's POV

If a vampire could blush, I would have been red as a tomato. This was a first for me, but this beautiful woman, looking like a goddess even in my overlarge T-shirt and a pair of leggings, seemed to have this kind of effect on me. I know Edward has heard my thoughts, but he is still to act on them. I think he's more thrilled that I'm at last coming back to the world of the living as Rhea would say. Oh God! I groaned internally at my use of her dialects and then took a deep fortifying breath, seeing the amused look on her face.

"I meant that you are wearing different clothes, as compared to what you wear regularly. And you have no makeup on either." I said in my usual swaggering style.

Her face fell at my words, confirming my suspicions that, that is not how he usually dresses up. I think. This girl makes me feel as if somebody has taken a blender to my brain and probably all my emotions too.

"Actually this is how I usually am, truthfully. Sona and Sur have been forcing me into getting my face caked up and wearing silly dresses in hopes that I catch some local boys' eyes." She said, hesitating at the boy.

I felt a surge of anger go through me. They don't deserve her. 'And you do?' someone from inside me taunted me. Has Renesmee learned to reflect her thoughts on somebody from a distance? Nah! Not possible. "You - They - I mean, these ninnies don't deserve you. They are adolescents. You deserve a mature man." I sounded - jealous? No, just irritated with the humans.

"Yeah! That's what I told Sur and Sona to get them off my back. Because they have their mates with them, they are always trying to hook me up. How I would love to sic Ed on them one of these days." She said, her tone changing from hesitant to love for her friends to thoughtful. Probably thinking of Edward's over-protective ways.

This reminded me, "Hey! What did you mean that day about mates and soulmates?"

Rhea's POV

Em's eyes lightened up suddenly. "Hey! What did you mean that day about mates and soul mates? " he asked me the dreaded question.

Before I can find some way of getting out of this, Jazz came up to me reiterating the same and everyone else followed. I sighed and decided to go with the truth.

"God has created someone for everyone. This special someone compliments you perfectly. Physically - you both fits each other's curves exactly right, much like a jigsaw puzzle. Emotionally - you both will exactly even the scales. The needs of every person differ and so do their soulmates."

"For example, someone with temper issues could have someone with an even shorter fuse if that is how they can be handled or they can get someone with all the patience in the world. See, there's only one who's exactly perfect for you - Your Soul Mate - Your Adelfí Psychí. But there are still several individuals, who are nearly perfect for you too. Your second chances or maybe an option."

"Even though there's only one who's tailor made for your requirements - these people too, are your mates. When you are with your mate you are extremely happy and in love, but some very small things are missing that you don't even realize, until you are with your Soul Mate. Also, when you are with your mate, you are able to find other probable mates, but when you find Him, every other person dissolves away. Nothing and no one else matters. You won't be able to feel anything for any other possible mate of yours, once you are mated, to your Soul Mate."

"It's quite like imprinting and the wolves can understand that better. I don't say that it's all rainbows and glitters, because there are fights and everything else. And neither do I say that the love between mates is any less than the love between soulmates. It's the very small things that may matter, that differ." I could see that despite my elaborate answer, everyone was still confused, so I decided to go a bit further and hope that it doesn't backfire.

"For example, my mates and my Soul Mate, all of them would adore my passion for reading, whether they read themselves or not. But as it was for Sabian, in my case, he was soft while my Soul Mate is simply emotional." I shut up, knowing that I had slipped and Ed at least has certainly caught it. I decided to simply continue as if it was common mistake. Maybe he'll think that it's someone else.

"So you love and fight with both your mates and Soul Mate and go back to them regardless. You don't care about anyone else either. But, when you're with your mate and your Soul Mate comes in between, you are stretched thin wanting them both, and the end result is never pretty for anyone, though in the cases where they have survived, the true soulmates are the only one that were together in the end."

"Wow, that's confusing yet I kind of understand what you mean bua." That was Jacob.

I smiled and tried to explain the theory of Mates and Soul Mates, "You can say that God has given you the chance of finding true love, even if you can't find the perfect one due to short lifespans. But the immortal or supernatural beings tend to find their soulmates or they would find one mate whom they'll love for lifetimes which will then negate their bond with their Soul Mate." I felt sadness seeping into my voice as I realized that that could happen to me since Emmett has been with Rosalie for nearly a century now.

I come out of reverie and say to Jake with a cheeky smile, "Gosh! If had paid this much attention to class projects back in Little Heaven, I would have been the favorite student of the teachers out there."

And with that everyone go back to what they were doing with little smiles on their faces. Well, everyone but Ed and Jazz, who were looking at me as if they knew what's happening. Uh oh!

So, Em is also feeling something for Rhea, but he is way too confused, or maybe he's putting it off. Regardless, Rhea is caught by darling brothers. I wouldn't wanna be her, right now. You'll probably have to wait some for the next chapter since I have to submit a report soon (a report I haven't even started).
