"Come on! We're gonna be late!" Jem shouted from the door.

I slipped my jacket on and stuffed my concert ticket in my pocket.  Jem and I were going to see my favourite band, Panic! At The Disco.

My name is Emma Larson.  Jem was my best friend.  His real name was Jeremy, but everybody called him Jem.  Jem was sixteen and I was fourteen when we went to our first Panic! live show.

Jem wasn't my boyfriend, in fact, I was very asexual.  Jem was my best friend, and that was that.  He liked to take me places and have fun, and today we were seeing Panic! At The Disco.

Jem and I lived in an adoption center because when we were little, our parents abandoned us.  I had depression for a long time, but Jem helped me through it.  I hadn't cut for five months, but there were still light scars on my wrists.

"Emma! Come one!" Jem yelled again.

"I know, I know,"  I said, walking past him.  "Cool your jets."

When we got down the stairs into the lobby, Mrs. Birchfield stopped us at the door.  "Where are we going, today?" she asked sweetly.

"I'm treating Emma to a concert at Roxsville," Jem replied.  "If you're wondering, I got the money by doing chores for the third floor janitor."

Mrs. Birchfield nodded and let us go, and we flew out of the center and headed to the venue.  It wasn't far for the center, just a few blocks, so we could walk.

I immediately spotted the merch table.  "Slow down, Emma!" Jem hollered after me.  "I don't have that kind of money!"

I stopped, disappointed.  "No tour merch?"

Jem must have seen the hurt in my eyes because he said, "How about this: You can have one thing.  Only one, and you have to pay me back later."

"Deal!"  I started to look all around at the different items Panic! had for sale.  T-shirts, hats, hoodies, posters, can koozies, banners, even sports bras.

"I want that hat!" I said, pointing.  It was a baseball cap; it was black on the outside, but under the rim, it was red with orange letter that spelled, "Victorious".

Jem nodded and payed.  Then, we took our seats and waited for the show to begin.  When the roadies and stage crew were setting things up, I was on the edge of my seat, watching.  I watched as they rolled the Panic! drums onto the stage.  I admired the bass drum, the one that had "Panic! At The Disco" painted on it.

More and more people were running on and off stage.  My eyes widened when I could see Zack Hall, Panic! manager, peeking out from backstage.  It's almost time!

The lights dimmed and I could feel my heart beating faster.  Soon, Dan walked out with his drum sticks and positioned himself at the drums as the crowd cheered.  Then, Kenny, wearing his guitar, walked from the left, and Dallon with his bass walked from the right.  The crowd was now going wild.

Music started playing, and I recognized it to be "Don't Threaten Me With A Good Time".  The faint "alright, alright" was coming from somewhere.  Brendon wasn't on stage, yet.

I jumped to my feet when I saw him emerge from backstage and yell, "It's a hell of a feeling though!"

Everyone cheered, clapped, and chanted stuff as the first song played.  It was a magical experience.  Just the thought of being in the same room as my idol made me beyond happy.  Hearing them play live made me ecstatic.

Song by song went by, along with some jokes here and there, but soon, the concert came to a pause.

"This next song has been around for a long time," Brendon said into the microphone.  Everyone screamed and got excited.  An old song!  "This song is called 'Time to Dance'."  The crowd went wild.  I started to jump up and down because I love that song!

Brendon scratched his head.  "But... you all know that this song is kind of written like a duet."  Brendon chuckled as the crowd cheered some more.  "And we've been making Dallon sing the second part for ages.  It's time for some change."

What did that mean?  Dallon had sung it for as long as I could remember.  What was Brendon planning?

"Who would like to volunteer to come up on stage and sing with me?"  As soon as Brendon's words left his mouth, all the fans went crazy.  The amount of kaos was starting to overwhelm me, so I didn't scream, but I put my hand up like everyone else.

Brendon jumped off the stage while the pit reached out to try to touch him (a few people were successful), and he started to walk up and down the stands.  His hand was up to his chin like he was deep in concentration.

"Mmmm..." he kept saying.  "You? Or you?"  He walked practically the whole venue when he came back to the row that Jem and I were sitting in.  Brendon eyes the rows, raising his eyebrows.  I still had my hand up, and I was hoping and praying that he would pick me.

"You, young lady, what's your name?" Brendon said, pointing the microphone at me.  I froze.  Me?

I pointed to my chest mouthing "me" and Brendon nodded.  "Uh, Emma,"  I said.

Brendon smiled.  "Great! Would you like to sing 'Time to Dance' with me?"  My eyes widened, and I nodded happily.  "Good.  Follow me."

I got up from my row, high fiving Jem as I walked past him, and followed Brendon to the front of the venue and up the stairs to the stage.  He walked up to his mic stand.  He gestured for me to stand next to him.  "C'mon, closer! I don't bite!"

I wore a huge smile.  I was so close to him.  This was a dream come true!  "You all of the parts, right?"  Brendon asked me.  I nodded.

Music started playing: the intro.  My heart was pounding in my chest.  I was in front of thousands of people, and I was about to sing a duet with Brendon freaking Urie.

Brendon started.  "Well she's not bleeding on the ballroom floor..."  His voice sounded majestic.  He was smiling at me the entire time.  I got goosebumps.

Pretty soon, it was my turn to join in.  Brendon held the microphone between us.

"Have some composure, where is your posture?"

"Oh, no, no,"

"You're pulling the trigger, you're pulling the trigger!"

"All wrong.."

My confidence grew as Brendon was in front of me.  His eyes sparkled before mine.  We continued to sing the rest of the song, and when it came to the "shotgun wedding" part, Brendon let me sing "wedding" with the crowd.

Soon, the song was over.  I was starstruck at what had just happened.  It had felt like a dream.  Brendon took my hand, and placed something in it.  I looked down to find two meet & greet passes.  My mouth dropped back open.  I raised my head.  Brendon nodded, and then said, "Give it up for Emma!"  Everyone cheered for me.

"You have a beautiful voice," Brendon said when we were off stage and on the ground, but he covered the mic so that no one could hear.

"Thank you," I said, shyly.  "Thanks for this."  I held up my meet & greet passes.

Brendon nodded.  "My pleasure.  See you after the show."  Then he hugged me, and I practically melted.  His body was so soft, so warm.

He went back on stage to continue the show, and I walked back to my seat.  "Good job singing,"  someone told me.  I just smiled and nodded my head.

When I sat down, Jem hugged me tight.  "Oh my god, Emma! I didn't know you could sing that good!"  He yelled.

"Thanks,"  I said.

After the show was over, Jem started to walk from the venue when I caught him by his shirt.  "What?"

"I almost forgot,"  I told him.  "Brendon gave me these."  I showed Jem my gift, and his eye got really big.

"No way.  Then let's go!"  He grabbed me by the arm and shouted, "I can't believe we get to meet Panic! At The Disco!"
