*end of texts*

I smiled to myself. Brendon remembered Jem!

*when jem arrives*

There was a knock at the door. Brendon had answered it by the time I got there. "Hello," he said.

I heard a voice answer and my heart leaped. "Jem!" I exclaimed, running up to him. I hugged him tight, and he hugged me back.

"Hi, Emma." He mumbled into my shoulder. He looked up, and I noticed he was staring at Brendon. Oh yeah...

"Um, Jem, this is my dad, Brendon. Bren, this is my friend Jem." I brought them closer together.

"Hi," Brendon said, smiling.

"H-hey," Jem said in return.

I turned to Brendon. "Remember when I told you about that friend I had at the adoption center? This' Jem."

Brendon nodded. "Oh, yeah. I remember." Brendon put out his hand.

Jem shook it nervously. "You told him about me?" He asked me.

I nodded. "You're like my brother. Plus he forced me."

Jem looked confused, and Brendon broke the awkward silence. "How about some dinner? I can heat up some pasta!"

"Where'd Sarah go?"

"Dunno. Sleeping?" Brendon left for a second and then came back. "Yeah, she's sleeping." I nodded.

Brendon cooked some fettuccine alfredo for the four of us. He brought Sarah in, and we all sat at the table. "Who's this? Another one of your friends?" She asked me.

I nodded. "His name's Jem. Jem, that's my mom, Sarah."

Jem nodded at her. "Hi."

Sarah smiled and said, "Same to you."

We ate dinner, and when we were done, I took Jem into my room.

"Cool bedroom," Jem said.

"Thanks. That's my Meet & Greet poster." I pointed to the poster on the wall.

Jem nodded. "My favourite part is your name on the door."

I grinned. "You know, Brendon had that done just yesterday, but it already feels like I've had it for years." I had no idea what the hell I had just said, but I didn't think that Jem cared.

"I want to stay with you," He muttered.

"What?"

He shook his head. "Never mind." He sat down on my bed. "Soft!"

I nodded. "Softest bed I've ever had." I sat next to him. "You're welcome to stay the night."

Jem shook his head, again. "I can't. I've got to get back to the center. I kind of snuck out with that janitor's car."

I widened my eyes. "Ol' Third-Floor?"

He smiled and nodded. "Ol' Third-Floor." He looked at the ground. "You know, Emma? I really missed you. But now that I've been away so long, I've gotten used to you not being with me everyday."

I words kind of hurt me, but I felt exactly the same way. "Same. I wish it was different, but I agree."

Jem looked back at me. His blue eyes were burning into me. I got lost in them easily. "I've always liked you, Emma, but now, right now, in this room, I think I love you."

I was confused. Right now? This room? I've loved him always. "I love you, too, Jem," was what I said, because I didn't want to cause any conflict. He was going to leave soon, and I didn't want to argue or have uneasy feelings.

Jem started to scoot closer to me, and he took my hand. He held it in his own, and with his other, he traced light circles on the back of it. "What are you doing?" I asked, but he shushed me. He continued drawing different shapes on my hand, and it felt good.

Jem leaned in, and out of instinct, I leaned in, too. Our lips collided, and we stayed like that for a while. It was a heated kiss, but not too heated. Jem left his tongue out, mostly because he knew that was new to me, I think.

I felt his soft lips over mine, and I had an instant sensation. They were so soft, so gentle, yet so good at kissing me hard, if that made any sense.

Jem finally pulled away after about five seconds. He looked utterly shocked. "I, uh, I'm sorry Emma!"

"No, no, no!" I quickly responded. "That was nice. You are good at that."

Jem smiled faintly. "You, too." I felt my cheeks turn red. "I better go. Bye, Emma."

He started to get up to leave, but I grabbed him my the arm. "Jem, wait! One last thing. Give me your phone." Jem, with a bewildered expression on his face, took his phone from his bag and handed it to me.

"Why do you need it?" He asked.

"Just need to do something." I got out my phone too, and opened both of the phones' contacts. I created a new one on Jem's, and opened the one that said "Dad" on mine. I put Brendon's number into Jem's phone, and called it "Brendon Urie a.k.a Emergency".

Jem watched me type that, and asked, "Why? What?"

"Because," I began. "If you ever have any emergency, ever, call my dad. He'll help you with anything, I promise."

Jem slowly nodded. "Bye, Emma." He pecked me on the lips and left.

I just sat there on my bed. I loved Jem so much. I left him with just two contacts: His best-friend-maybe-more-than-friend and his best-friend-maybe-more-than-friend's dad.
