Bellamy POV
I didn't even wait to see if anyone was coming with me as I tore through the trees trying to get to Clarke and berating myself as I ran.
I never should have left her! Sure sge carried a knife but what good would a knife do if she ran into a dinosaur? Or a pterodactyl? Or something worse???
God I was so stupid!!!
I hadn't gone very far before I heard a scream and I started to run faster. The next thing I knew she ran straight into my arms.
"What's wrong?!" I caught and steadied her as she tried to catch her breath. Before she could say anything I heard a rustle coming from the underbrush.
She gasps and points as I push her behind me while getting ready to take aim.
Suddenly this giant bug comes crawling towards us. It had to be at least 3 feet long with lots of legs.
I've only read about them but I think it may be a centipede.
I took aim and fired.
Whatever it was it was dead now, despite it's still wiggling legs. I grimaced in disgust and fired again just for good measure.
"You ok?" I ask turning to Clarke, both of us breathing a sigh of relief.
She nods still staring in horror at the dead thing before us.
"Was it alone?"
"Y'know, I didn't stay long enough to find out." She replies wryly.
I smirk at her, "Good call princess. Let's go." I nod towards camp. She doesn't hesitate as she falls into step with me.
We walk a bit in silence, then, "Bellamy?"
"Yeah?"
"Thank you for saving me."
"Anytime princess." I smirk at her.
She stops and catches my arm. "No. I mean. You didn't have to come back for me." She pauses then, "Why did you come back?"
"Wells came back to camp without you! Why wouldn't I come for you?"
She drops her gaze but not before I see a blush sweep across her cheeks.
I take my hand and lift her chin so that she is forced to look at me. "Clarke? Why would you think I wouldn't make sure you were ok?"
Her blue eyes look onto mine and I see the confusion warring with...desire? Does she want me to? I feel my heart start to race and it's so loud I'm sure she can hear it too...
"Bellamy...I..." she breathes, eyes not leaving mine. It's like we're caught in a spell that neither of us can break free from.
I don't think we want to anyway.
