Distant music. Worried voices. A pillow under my head. These were the things that first hit me as I slowly became aware of my surroundings. Then the pain registered and I almost gasped. It felt like I'd been hit with a very large brick. I slowly opened my eyes to find Teresa watching me anxiously, her hazel eyes round and panic filled.
"Aine! Oh my God are you okay?"
"Mmm...where am I?" I tried to sit up, but a large hand reached over Teresa's shoulder and gently pushed me down again. The rest of the person soon followed. It was the bouncer who had stamped my hand at the entrance, armed with a humongous first aid kit.
"Stay lying down for a bit, there's a good girl. I still need to fix that head of yours."
I nodded. The man then gently put some disinfectant on it and checked the wound once it was blood free. "Hmm, you won't need stitches anyway. Tell me, you don't feel like you're going to be sick or anything do you?"
I shook my head.
"Good. Seeing as your pupils aren't dilated either, I think that safely rules out concussion. But don't worry, you have a lovely bruise on your cheek so you'll still have a souvenir of this little adventure when you go home!"
I giggled weakly at his incredibly crap bit of humour."So am I alright now?" I asked.
"You'll be grand. Just don't sit up for another ten minutes okay? We don't want you fainting on us."
"Okay. Thank you."
"You're welcome sweetheart. I'd better leave now, they need me to man the doors."
When he'd gone, Teresa reached over an squeezed my hand. "I'm so glad you're okay. I honestly thought you were gonna have to go in an ambulance for a bit!"
I smiled at her. "Nah, I'm much too tough to need that kind of help!" Then something occured to me and I frowned. "Where the hell am I anyway?"
"You're backstage. Connor told them to bring you into the dressing room."
"Connor?"
Just then, the door banged open and in walked the five douchebags who made up the horrific entity known to the people as Silent Rain. Four of them, including Eamonn (Who by the way looked about as cheerful as Eyore did when he lost his tail) ignored myself and Teresa completely and started doing their own thing. Connor, however, surprised me by going over to Teresa and enveloping her in a big hug.
"You okay now? I told you she'd be fine didn't I?" He looked at me over her shoulder and frowned. "You are fine aren't you?"
"Er...yeah..." I said, more than a little bewildered by the turn of events. What the hell was Connor Rowan hugging Teresa for? He couldn't have met her more than five seconds ago.
"I'm alright now, thanks Connor," Teresa said, shyly returning the hug.
"Cool." Connor let go and straightened up, still holding one of her hands. He was handsome, with short, sandy hair that stuck up all over the place, clear grey eyes and a wirey, athletic frame. He also had a reputation for being a terrible flirt, which made me suspect that Teresa had just become his new interest.
"Do you want to go dance?" he asked, letting his eyes smoulder as they gazed into hers in a way that made me want to throw up it was so rehearsed.
Yep. Target acquired.
"Um..." Teresa bit her lip and looked over at me, unsure. I opened my mouth to ask her to stay- I really didn't want to be left on my own with the rest of the band- but she looked so eager and excited that I hadn't the heart to refuse her. I sighed. "Go on. I'm fine."
