"Wait, what??" You said, confused to Patrick through the phone, your mother helping you unpack your final box in your new apartment.
"My buddy set up my 16th birthday party up in New York. If you wanna come you gotta get a plane ticket either for a couple days before my birthday or on my-"
"I heard you, I heard you. But you're being serious?"
"Why would I joke about the best birthday party some one can ever throw for me?!"
You tried your best to ignore that comment due to you throwing him an amazing party last year.
"Patty cakes, I don't know, I mean. I just finished unpacking. I'm not a huge fan of planes. I don't know, I just-"
"I'll fly with you! I'll help you with anything at your new place! Please sweetie, I really want you there."
You looked at your mom, putting Patrick on hold. "Hey mom. Do you mind if I go to New York with Patty? It's for his birthday."
"Ah! I don't care. I told you, you move out, you make your own choices. But don't do anything stupid with that boy of yours!" She said, waving her finger a lot.
You went back to Patrick on the phone. "I don't know if I can afford a ticket."
"My parents got it covered."
"You gotta stop relying on them Hun. Eventually you're really gonna need money for...I don't know, a band or something, and they're not gonna help."
"It's for my birthday. It's fine. I'll talk to you later about details k? Talk to you later babe."
"Talk to you-" you started as you heard him hang up, "later."
Party Time...
You were greeting people as they walked through the open ropes around the center of time square. You didn't know who this "buddy" of Patrick's was, but you really had to know how they pulled this off. Somehow, they were able to book TIME SQUARE!!! Well, okay, a small part of time square, but seriously?!? There were ropes around your designated party area to keep people from intruding the party. It wasn't the quietest nor the wildest party but it was only Patrick's 16th birthday.
Then it hit you. You were 15, almost 16, but had already gone to New York with your boyfriend. Something your parents never planned on doing in they're lifetime!
You had to cut off your thoughts when you noticed Patrick talking to a strange man. No smile on his face, thus you automatically thought he must have been scared. You weren't sure if it was the thought of you being in New York or what, but you couldn't get this one and only thought out of your head.
God dammit, Patty's being mugged.
You ran over there and turned the strange guy around. He was wearing all black and had black circles around his eyes. Maybe a drug dealer?
"Hey bub, didn't you see the ropes? This is a safe zone! Go mug on another turf!" You said.
"Mug? Hun, this is my old friend, Pete! He was my best friend til I moved and went to your school and met you." Patrick said, bring you under his shoulder, introducing you to "Pete".
Your eyes got big, your cheeks burning. "Oh my gosh! I'm so stupid! I mean, sorry! Both! I've just never been to New York and-"
"It's fine, really. For a new timer, I can't believe you already had the city balls to do that. Especially if you thought I was a criminal. And to be honest, I don't blame you for thinking I was one. Probably shoulda known to plan a party in New York to dress nicer." Pete said.
"Wait, YOU planned all this??" You said, astounded.
"Yeah, course. Just a nice little party for my good ole pal Pat." He said with a smile. And because of that party...
You knew you'd never forget Pete.
