"Come on. It's a great coffee place! And I know how much you love coffee." Pete said, nudging your shoulder.
You sat in your apartment with him. All of Patrick's stuff was finally back where it belonged. At his place.
Days since break up count: 40, not counting today that is.
"Alright. Fine. Let's go." You said, getting up.
"Great!" He said excitingly.
You both left your apartment and popped in his car. He drove as you stared out the window, collecting your thoughts. You looked over at Pete, noticing he seemed...distracted.
"Pete, are you alright?"
"Yes. Extremely. You?"
You pondered that question. You believed you were. With only a few months til graduation, you were really stressed. But you felt like the only right response was...
"Yes. I'm fine." It made sense to say. No questions needed.
A couple minutes later, Pete pulled into a parking lot of a sweet looking little place full of vintage, cliche coffee decorations.
"Alright, let's go." He said with a big smile. You leaped out of the car, expecting Pete to follow. Looking behind you, you saw Pete pulling away.
"PETE! What are you-"
"Go inside and look the man at table number three!" Pete yelled as he drove away. You grumbled. God dammit Pete.
You walked into the coffee shop, smelling the fresh aroma of coffee scents. The employees uniforms matched the vintage decor, causing your heart to smile. You always did have a soft spot for vintage coffee shops. Dammit Pete, he's an evil master mind. He knew you wouldn't be able to resist this.
As you scoped for table number three, you caught eye of a caramel frapuccino on the menu. You had to have it. Quickly, you went and payed for it.
"And what's your name?"
"Excuse me?"
"You don't think Starbucks is the only coffee place to ask for your name do you?"
"Oh, right, sorry. Y/N" you said as she wrote it on the cup. You went over to the other counter to wait for it, tapping your foot and looking more at the decor. Beautiful. A couple minutes passed by until you got your drink. You heard a voice behind you.
"Y/N? Y/N Y/L/N?" You turned to see a man with short brown hair and eyes that looked full of worry but adventurousness, and there were a few tattoos on his arms.
"How do you know-"
"Joseph Trohman. I'm a friend of Petes." He said, then kindly signaled for you to sit with him. He led you to table three.
You had an amazing conversation with Joe. You found that he had the same childlike instincts as you. Eventually he told you Pete had set up this "blind date" with you two due to your break up with Patrick and him thinking Joe was single, which was false, but in the end, Joe said he was glad he came.
Never with you forget the day you met your new big brother.
