But before she could press the button, she saw Eve's eyes tremble softly like the beating of a butterfly's wings. It was barely noticeable, but it stopped Cadence in her tracks.

She moved. It was great news...For Ash.

Cadence looked back at the button. She could still press it and pretend that she didn't see anything, but she didn't and soon she was pulling out her cell and calling Ash.

"Yes Cadence?" Ash answered, his voice even, monotone.

Cadence cleared her throat and stared at Eve. "Eve's shown signs of movement." She then heard Ash's surprise gasp and then his light laughs of gleefulness.

"Are you serious?! We're coming in 10!" Ash exclaimed, much more happier now.

"Okay. Bye." Cadence hung up and left to go grab the doctor to him the news. She clutched her chest as she headed down the hall.

Ash felt alive and ecstatic when Cadence called to say that Eve had finally shown signs of movement. It meant that he was one step closer to bringing her back. However, he wasn't that ecstatic to facing Cadence again. What would he say? He had snapped at her and made her cry, and she had confused him when he was already disoriented with the future.

Jack was probably even more animated than he was, his sister was finally starting to show signs of hope. He sped down the street, earning annoyed honks from drivers and almost running over a biker.

"Who bikes at night?" Jack shouted and swerved around the biker to drive into the entrance of the hospital.

A few minutes later, the doctor, Ash and Jack, and Ash's mom where all huddled around Eve. Cadence wasn't there, but Ash didn't care right now as he watched Eve flutter her eyelids softly. He smiled and knew that it was a small of impactful step. The doctor agreed that it was okay progress, but he said that they shouldn't clear her off of the safe zone yet. Ash didn't listen to the doctor's words. She would wake up and he would be right there---

A flash of Cadence's face streaked across his mind.

What about that? Could he still have the same feelings for her?

For the rest of the night, even after Jack and Ash's mom left, he laid down next to Eve, and clasped her hand within his. It was cool to the touch and he placed her hand to his lips to feel the smoothness of her fingers. He watched her eyelids tremble again, and let himself go to sleep.

Ash stood at the ocean, and watched as the sun lazily drifted down to it's bed. The cool ocean water lapped at his bare feet gently, and he could remember the many times he and Eve had come down here to skip rocks and hang out. He  turned around and found Eve perched on a boulder. She wore a  fluttering blue dress and her black hair was damp and plastered against her cheeks.

"Hey Ashy." She greeted with a soft smile on her face. Ash walked over to her, letting the warm sand caress his cold feet. He sat down next to her and grinned. "Hey back."

Eve smiled and clasped his hand within hers then stared out at the ocean, watching the waves roll up and down. "Do you remember this place?" She asked.

Ash nodded. "Yeah, we used to skip rocks here and talk." He murmured wistfully.

E  ve cocked her head. "Do you want to know what I really like about the ocean?" She asked.

"  What?"

She jumped down from the boulder and strode out into the ocean, letting the water swirl around her ankles. "I like how the waters of the ocean keep moving, despite the obstacles in its way. It keeps going, just as life does, without any hesitation, or regret." She said. Ash looked away from her and immediately knew where this conversation was going.

"I'm not leaving you Eve." Ash replied firmly.

Eve sighed. "I never to say that I was leaving you forever Ash! I will still be in your heart. Never a memory, always a part of you. Besides, you should give that love to another special lady...Like Cadence."

"No! I don't love her Eve! What she did was a misunderstanding--"

"But she always did make you feel better didn't she? She gave you support and cared for you. I watched her Ash. And although she made mistakes, she has a kind soul that needs and wants tending to."

  "But we're just friends---"

Eve waved her hands about. "And what is wrong with that? We started out as friends right?!" She shouted. Ash became still and pressed a hand to his forehead.

  "I'm so confused..." He began.

Eve went over to him and brought his hand down from his forehead. "You shouldn't be Ash." She placed a hand on his chest and felt his heart beat. She closed her eyes and whispered,"She's the person you deserve now. I am only right here., where your love beats strong and where life sings for a new future." She gave a soft smile and kissed Ash's forehead.

"Ash, if I could ask for anything in the world, would you grant it?" She asked.

  "Yes," He replied.

Her eyes sparkled as she said this, "I want to fly Ash. I want to be free."

Ash wrapped his arms around her and placed his lips against her ear. If this is what she wanted, then should he let her suffer? It was better for her to be happy...That was what he wished for her all along.

"I'll make you happy." He whispered.

Eve laughed lightly. "Thank you. And I want you to make Cadence happy as well. She deserves it Ash. She deserves it." And the dream soon faded away.
