Walking the dogs on the beach has always calmed me. Just seeing them makes me smile. Jingo, my mom's chihuahua, always barks at the beach goers. When my dog, Thor the Siberian husky, sits and waits for commands. I guess when I walk, it let's me think.

I sat there for a while, contemplating on where to go, or just to sit there. After a minute, I made a decision to just watch the sunset. The pinks, and yellows look like a great place to run away to. No one could say rude things, or give you strange looks. It would be like walking to God. As I laid on the beach, I slowly drifted off to sleep, feeling safe.

I woke to random barks and growls. I looked up, seeing just stars and a glittering sky. How long have I been asleep? I grabbed my phone and looked at the time. It was 11 P.M. I left the house at 7. I unlocked my phone, and saw I had a text.
"Hay, are you ok? I'm worried sick. Me and Alyn are staying the night, so when you come back, come see us.
-Han."

I quickly typed back.

"Hey Hannah, sorry. I fell asleep on the beach, I'll be home soon. XO."

I hit the send button.

As I started getting up, I saw what the dogs were barking at. A group of teenagers were having a bonfire not to far from where I am.

"Oh look guys, the beached whale is finally awake.." I heard one of them say.

I whistled at the dogs to come, as a single tear fell down my cheek.

Half way to the house I heard a car engine rev, and looked to see which house it was. It wasn't hard to figure out that it was Zaks house.

Zak was two years ahead of me in school, and a football player. Although I never knew him, he was one of Alyn's good friends. I met him when I went to Raven's graduation/pool party for me. I always thought he was attractive since that day, but nothing will ever happen with him.

As soon as I got to the house, I saw my father's truck parked in the garage. Finally, I haven't seen him in days. I put the dogs into their gated areas, and locked it up. Walking into the garage, I could feel the heat coming from my dad's truck, and realized he had just gotten home, and he'll most likely be in the shower.

Walking through the door, I put the collars on the hook, and set the keys to the dog cage down. I could hear my mother walking around the kitchen and decided to go and see what was going on.

Seeing my mom bustling around reminded me of when I was little. She always used to run around the kitchen getting everything ready and her smile was bright. It was never the same after my brother, Bry, left. He was her pride and joy. I think she knew when he graduated, that he was going to join the Marines. She was happy at first, but as soon as she dropped him of at basic training, she changed. Her voice got deeper, her demeanor was darker. He's been in Japan, Afghanistan, you name it. I think he's happy. I mean, he's gotten married and has a baby. Moms happy about that, since none of her other children have had one.
"Why are you in here? You've already eaten. Go take a shower, you smell like sweat and sea water."
"Yes ma'am... I love you, Momma."

I walked upstairs quietly and knocked on Hannah's door.

"Hay?" She sounded tired.
"Yeah, it's me."
"Come in, sweettart."

I walked in, and saw her and Alyn laying in bed watching Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs. She smiled, and gestured for me to come over. I walked to the side of the bed, and climbed in next to her. Scooting in close and putting my head on her chest. She wrapped her arms around me, and held me close.

"You smell like the ocean." She said quietly, trying not to disturb Alyn, who was still concentrating on the movie.

"I'm sorry, I'll leave." I tried to get up, and she pulled me in closer.

"No, it smells amazing."
"Really?" I said with amazement.
"Yes, love."

I laid there with them till the movie was over. I missed this. Hannah was my bestfriend when we were all living here. I remember when Anna always picked on me. Hannah would come up, and punch her. Anna would always go and cry to mom, and Bry. Bry never cared, but mom would always ground Hannah. Even when she was grounded, I would sneak into her room at night, and jump into bed with her. I was scared to sleep, just in case Anna came in and threw things at me. Which she did.

After we stopped talking about the movie, Alyn wanted to show me that band. He grabbed his headphones, and his iPhone. As he scrolled threw the music, I looked at Hannah with a concerned look.
"Just listen, I think you'll like them." I nodded.
"Aighht, We'll start off with a softer note with these guys. This song is called When You Can't Sleep At Night."

He handed me the left earbud, and he put In the right. As I listened, Notes started playing. It was a beautiful sound.

'Hear in this world, I'm awaked with mistakes, but it's love that keeps fueling me, fueling me...'

I listened to the rest of the song with my eyes closed. Tears started filling my eyes, and I started crying. Hannah grabbed my hand, and squeezed. She's always known that this is what calms me down.

After the song was over, I gave Alyn and Hannah a hug. I went to my room, and set out my night shirt, and Batman pj bottoms. I walked to my bathroom, turned on the shower, and made it the right temperature. After I was happy, I walked to the mirror and started taking off my clothes. When I was done undressing, I grabbed the scale to weigh myself. Nothing changed. I grabbed my dry erase marker, and wrote my reading on the mirror next to the marking from the last 8 months. It's become a ritual: weigh and write twice a day, every day. I studied myself in the mirror, tugging and poking at what I would change if I could.

I jumped into the shower after putting on my stereo. 25 minutes later I got out, dried my hair, and put on my clothes.

I grabbed my laptop, pulled up iTunes, and looked up Of Mice & Men. That's when I saw his face. I didn't think it would effect me this much to hear them. After downloading all the albums, I put them on my iPod and hooked it up to my iHome to let it charge. After I turned off my laptop, I laid down, and stared at the ceiling. Finally drifting off to sleep after about an hour.
