Brock Rumlow slowly clawed his way back up the long climb to consciousness. He had been stabbed in the head, and yet he had never felt more alive. He had purpose now. It had all come back to him - Tahiti was a lie - and so was most of his life since the incident in Lagos. Hydra had refused to let him die. They spearfished his corpse out of the wreckage and operated on him. They had changed his brain.
There was no massaging. The woman with the red shampoo had been modifying his brain, removing core memories and destroying tissue. The man delivering the cocktails was a desperate doctor, panicked by what he was seeing.
'Who ordered this?'
'Please God, just let me die!' - This was never sarcasm. He was laying on a cold metal table with his skull cut open begging to be dead. That was Tahiti. He would find Strucker and murder him and all of Hydra. Anyone who got in his way would also end up in a body bag. He heaved himself up from the pool of his own blood on his bed and put on his motorcycle helmet. Loading a handgun which he'd taken from Cyanide, he marched himself out of the room.
When he set foot in the damned corridors again, they were literally covered in red mist. A smoke grenade, by the looks of it, mingling with the blood all over the ground. It seemed that Cyanide had cut his work out for him. He heard a snarling from behind him, and then realised that not everyone in the facility were cadavers.
A massive brute dressed in glimmering ebony armour stood in the mist behind Brock, and claws began to lengthen from his fingertips with a sickening crack. Fangs forced themselves out of the armoured man's mouth, and the Raptor roared in pain.
Brock wasted no time. He ran straight at the Raptor, and landed a sweeping kick to its legs. He then unloaded a single lead bullet into its skull.
When another man wielding a crowbar ran towards Brock, he picked up the corpse of Raptor and used it as a shield. The crowbar went squelching straight through Raptor's face and splattered blood onto Brock's chest. Brock dropped Raptor and grabbed the protruding crowbar from the hole that was once its face.He wrenched the weapon out of the man's hands, and swung it wildly. It collided with the criminal's ribcage, shattering bones on impact and then being driven in between said bones, killing the man instantly.
'That's what you get for killing me.' He spat down into the corpse's face. He pulled the crowbar out of the body, and then brandished the dripping weapon in the darkness. Two knives plunged down into Brock's shoulder blades, and a woman began to kick Rumlow's back while holding on to her knives. He swore, and tugged the knives out from his shoulders and instantly turned them on the woman's knees, thrusting them in and hitting bone instantly - cutting cartilage like paper. Brock unloaded another round into the woman's head.
A figure materialised in front of Crossbones; seemingly using some-kind of teleportation system. 'I'm with SHIELD. I'm a good guy.' The green-suited man pleaded to Brock. The words flew through Brock's head, doing no damage. He lunged at the agent, using the two knives to flay and slice - except he wasn't there anymore.
The man wearing the green suit was a B-List mercenary called Solo. Crossbones couldn't give less of a shit. He clicked more ammunition into his handgun, and then pumped half of it into the empty space where Solo had been. Solo then landed a punch to the back of Brock's neck, and then to the visor of his helmet, and then used a grenade on said helmet.
When the smoke cleared, Crossbones was very much alive. The visor was smashed, and his face was bleeding, but he was still breathing. Solo took one last lunge at Crossbones, brandishing two electrically charged batons. He landed on a seemingly dazed Crossbones, and forced him to the floor with his tasers. It was then that Solo realised that there was a crowbar sticking out of his back.
He spat blood, and then died on top of Brock, leaving a bloodstain on the remains of Brock's helmet.
When Brock shook off the corpse and got to his feet - a bloodied skull emblem had been marked on his helmet.
Crossbones was born again.
He turned the corner of the corridor and reappeared in some sort of a large room covered in more of the fog. He instantly sensed movement and unloaded one bullet into the cloud.
This one bullet went through Cisco Ramon's head.
