The girl in the freezer opened her eyes. Her broken bones didn't hurt - for the first time in her conscious life. She still couldn't move her limbs, and breathing felt all wrong. If she moved her eyes to a particular point in her skull everything went black - but she was still alive.
A blackish-purple creature slithered up to the container, and began to explore. It had caught the scent of a living being. A suitable host. They were both broken. They were both abandoned. Together, they could set things right.
