Putting her back in her wheelchair, I put her drawing in her bag and rolled her back to her room. Some kids gave us dirty looks, but I shut them up with my puppet strings attacking their limbs and dragging them away to be killed by one of the nearby Creepypastas. I kissed the top of her head whispering, "I won't let any of those jerks hurt you any more. You have suffered enough."

It was true, Nikki had suffered enough. Puppeteer could see how depressed she was every day, even though she pulled off the best fake smile he has ever seen. Behind her smile was pain and suffering from her past.

Puppeteer laid her in her bed, tucking her in, and sat in one of her beanbags, starting to get lost in his thoughts.

What happened to make her crippled?

Was she bullied in her younger years because of that?

Can I do something to make her happy?

That's it! I know she hates being crippled, so I can set a goal to one day have her walk on her own again. She told me her spine was hurt beyond repair and nobody could do anything to help her. That will change starting now.

I will help her be able to walk again, even if I have to end up using my strings to help, but that will blow my cover and make her think I'm a monster.

Nikki's pov.

I woke up before my alarm, slowly taking in the sweet smell of honey and fresh pancakes, bringing me to the realization that someone is in my room with me. Turning to my side, I see Jo next to me with a tray of those fluffy pancakes, bacon, and a bottle of chocolate milk. I guess the honey smell is from him.

"Morning, Nikki. I made you some breakfast. Here." Jo set the tray in my lap, smiling as I literally inhaled the pancakes and chugged the milk.

"Thanks, Jo. You didn't have to, but I appreciate it anyway." I smiled and noticed he put my drawing of Genos in a frame and hung it on the wall.

It felt nice to have someone looking after me and being with me for once. Jo smiled as if he knew what I was thinking, taking my now empty plate and glass away to wash later then coming back to sit down next to me.

"I talked with your teachers. They are letting you stay in here so you dont have to wheel around to a building just to be left alone. They also let me take over in helping you read and that fun stuff."

My eyes widened in surprise, then a bright smile crept it's way to my face. I leaned forward and hugged him, smiling big like an idiot. I was happy; I didn't have to go through the trouble of wheeling around for no reason and  just to be left alone.

"Thank you."

"Oh, and one other thing..."

I tilted my head and glanced at Jason. "Hm?"

"I have dedicated the rest of my time to finding a way for you to walk again. I know how hard it is to be in the position you're in. No one should have to go through what you do. I want to make your life better starting now, if you'll let me."

Jo's little speech really touched me, especially seeing the fire of determination in his eyes. I believe that he is going to be the best friend I never had. I covered my now warm cheeks with my hands to somewhat hide my blush.

"For now, we can take a break from reading and work on your artistic talent you got there. I think your Genos drawing wants friends too, don't you think?"

"Yeah, I think so, too."

Jo gave me pencils, an eraser, and a lot of paper. He also got himself a pencil and eraser.

"Just draw what comes to mind. I will do the same, but I won't be as good as you."

I smiled and stifled a laugh. "The only thing that matters is that you try."

While we worked, we would give each other tips and opinions. Jo was drawing a marionette doll with strikingly similar features to myself.

"Is that me as a doll?"

"Yes, it is. Do you like it?" Jo stops drawing and slides the paper in front of me so I can see easier.

The picture had a porcelain doll look, with drawn in shines and realistic features to those of a real porcelain doll.

"It's perfect. I love it."

The smile on his face warmed my heart. "Let's see what you have drawn."

I turned to my work and looked one last time before passing the paper to him.

I had drawn a sort of realistic bunny rabbit. It's not the best, but I like how I did.

Jo's eyes brightened at the sight of the drawing. "It looks so real... maybe I need some lessons if you'd teach me."

I smiled and started drawing again as he added the new drawings to the others on the wall.

Jo's p.o.v

After putting up a few more drawings, I look back to see Nikki's sleeping form. She looks peaceful like none of the negativity got to her.

I shouldn't be feeling this way, but I can't help but feel sympathy for her. She didn't ask to be the way she is, or be in the hands of a murderer.

I have to get her out of here before she gets caught in the bloodbath. Maybe Painter and the Toymaker will help me out. We've always had each other's backs when we really needed it. Besides that, we didn't really talk much though.

I'll take her to Painter's place tomorrow. She doesn't need to be a part of the bloodshed. A girl like her should always be happy.
