Chapter 17

There was this time when she got addicted to his sweat
And now, to his ignorance.

It has been 3 months to my new job after my result. I got a call from the company itself. Arav was not happy with my decision to postpone the wedding but I convinced him somehow.

Things have changed, tremendously changed I guess. After few days of my job, Arav and my relation is not as same as it was before my result.

We don’t meet for weeks. He never answers my calls and texts. He is ignoring me to the extreme of everything. Even when I tried to meet him at his place, first time he was too tired and on another he was too occupied with a video conference.

It is not like he doesn’t talk to me there was a time in this past 3 months when he called me at around 4 in the morning. He was completely drunk and was blabbering “I love you a lot baby doll, please don’t leave me” and on the second time I heard his sobs in his confession around 2 in the morning.

When I tried to consult him on the other day, his answer was nothing. He made a excuse that he was too drunk to remember anything.

I was controlling my urge to share this all with my mother but last night the patience limit crossed when he ignored my calls the whole day and I saw him on news that he was on a date with someone.

When mom and I saw the news, I tried to cope up with many shitty excuses but at last she caught me and I shared everything with her. On which she suggested me to speak to him straight about my doubts. She made me understand that my doubts and grudges will spoil our relation.

Right now I am standing outside his place and ringing the bell. It is around 8.30 am in the morning. Today nor I am going to office neither I am letting him go at any cost.  

His maid opened the door with a sweet smile while I passed it back to her.

“Is Arav there?” I asked her. She nodded in a no “baba is not here from past two nights” she answered and I smiled. As soon as I reached near the lift, tears were coming out of my eyes. “Does that mean he was with that date the whole night?” my subconscious doubted him. “No my Arav can never do this to me. He loves me a lot” I mumbled slowly to myself as if I am making myself understand this.

The next thing popped into my head was to check his office. I took a taxi and headed inside his company. It was around 9 am and other employees were heading inside too.

As I reached near the reception, I asked about his whereabouts no one has any idea, not even his personal assistance. As if he is lost or he himself ran away somewhere.

Next was to call Sanya no other person can tell me about his whereabouts but she is the only one. I quickly dialled her number. She answered after few rings.

“Hello” her voice was very sleepy. “Hello Sanya I am sorry to bother you can you please tell me where is Arav? Actually I want to meet him but he is not answering my calls” I decided to lie coz I don’t want others to think the same as I am. Nor I have any plans for others to take any stress.

“Rhea, don’t you know he is in California. He will be back after 3 days.” She said and I was speechless to even react on this.

“I guess he forget to tell me.” I controlled the sudden need of sobbing by placing my palm on my mouth.

“No actually he is very busy these days. He even hardly calls us. Mom was planning to call you to ask that whether you know something about his sudden mood change but I can see you also don’t know” and that I hung up after apologizing for disturbing her sleep.
