Let's Have a Kiki {{8}}
We land at the club. The portal only opens at certain times to get to special places. I think I'm LA or Malibu. But what does it matter.
I push open the front doors to the club, with Leo following behind, and everyone turns to us. They recognize it's me and everyone yells either happy birthday or surprise.
Yeah, like I didn't already know.
My friends don't know how to keep their mouths shut. One of them rented out the club, I'm guessing, because I only see fairy folk.
My friend, Tessa, runs to me flapping her wings as she runs over.
"Briar! Happy birthday!" She crushes me. I take off my jacket and let my wings stretch. I sigh. That feels really good.
"You could have warned me." Leo says over the music and walks over to the bar.
"Ooh. Who's the human?" She watches him as he walks to the bar.
Why does everyone asks that?
"He's a client." I find my words.
"Why did you bring your work with you?" She turns back to me.
"Because he's also a friend." I laugh. The party is in full swing. Everyone is on the dance floor or is standing beside the bar talking.
"Sure." Tessa says suspiciously. She kisses me on the cheek and walks off.
People come over left and right catching up with me and lots of hugs. I don't see any of my ex's, thank goodness. I look to my right, next to the bar, and there is a table filled with presents.
Oh it's good to be the birthday girl.
I sit at a booth and Leo sits next to me. A few other of my close friends gather around.
"Stella, where are the kids?" I lean over Leo to ask her.
"Dean's home with them. He sprained his wing last week." She makes a pained face.
"Oh well send him my best." I pat her extended hand.
"I will." She smiles.
I watch Leo as he constantly is being hit with people's wings.
"Oh! I just had a brilliant idea!" Cole shouts over the music. We turn to him with questioning looks.
"Let's have a kiki." He says and we all start laughing.
"Lock the doors, tight." I say as I stand in my seat. "Let's have a kiki,"
"Motherfucker," we all yell.
"I'm gonna let you have it. Let's have a kiki," China says as she stands up next.
"I wanna have a kiki."
"Dive, turn, work. Let's have a kiki
We're gonna serve, and work and turn," Cole says next.
"And h-h-honey," we all yell over the music.
"A kiki is a party, for calming all your nerves." We start snapping. Leo looks at us weirdly. Other people in the club hear us and come to our table to join in.
"We're spilling tea, and dishing just desserts one may deserve." Stella does a little dance on the table as we sing the song.
"And though the sun is rising, few may choose to leave," Tessa sings.
"So shade that lid and we'll all bid adieu to your ennui," all of us that are standing on the table say together.
"Let's have a kiki!" I shout. We all are laughing our heads off and sit back down. Leo is still confused, but seriously, when is he not confused.
