Step-Brothers {{5}}
I think I'll stop by Leo's house today. I haven't seen him since our last encounter. I even made his mother a human version of a traditional fairy dish. I substituted eel skin and Newt tongue for chocolate chips and almond slivers. It's quite good. The traditional way is much better but it will have to do.
I knock on the screen door and his mother doesn't answer the door, but a bulky ugly young man.
"Hello I'm here to see Leo. I mean David." I correct myself.
"Yeah he's around back." I hear someone shout, "Who is it?" Another guy walks up and he looks identical to the other guy. Must be twins. "Who are you?" He raises his eye brows and looks me up and down.
"I'm a friend of David." I smile.
"Why?" Ok rude.
"Because we are friends." Be nice Briar.
"No why are you here?" He asks with an attitude.
"To visit him, because that's what friends do." I say very slow because he looks like he needs some help.
"Yeah he's in the barn. Don't be too long he has work he has to do." The smarter of the two says.
"Ok." I walk back to the barn and I see the mother tending to the garden.
"Hello," I say.
"Hi." She wipes her brow. "Are you here to see David?"
"Yes ma'am. I actually brought you a dessert too." I show her the dish.
"Oh well that's sweet. Why don't you stay for dinner and enjoy it with us?" She stands up and brushes off her dirty pants.
"Thank you. I'd love too." I haven't had a home cooked meal in a long time.
"David's in the barn." She goes back to her garden and I head to his room first. He's not in there so I set my purse and food on his desk. I search for him in main area and sure enough he's shirtless, again, feeding the horses.
"Whats up?" I ask. He just a little.
"You again." He rolls his eyes.
"Yes me. I will be around for a while, so you better get used to me." I smirk. "And your mother invited me to dinner." I sit on a bale of hay.
"Why are you here?" He clarifies and goes back to shoveling.
"I wanted to see how you were doing after last week. You haven't taken my calls and I wanted to make sure you weren't dead." I smirk and laugh at my own joke.
"No, not dead." He gives me attitude an is acting testy.
"I didn't know you had brothers-"
"Step-brothers." He stabs the hay with his pitchfork. Ohk I'm sensing some dislike.
"Well they didn't look like the friendliest people, or most attractive." I mumble under my breath. He laughs at that.
"Dinners ready!" Leo's mom peaks her head in the barn. I run to his room to grab the dish, my purse and follow him to the kitchen. We wash our hands and sit at the table. I sit in between Leo and his mother.
"I'm sorry sweetheart I don't remember your name." She apologizes.
"Oh it's ok." I smile. "I'm Briar Rose." I smile to the group. Leo's step-father doesn't look up from his food and Leo's step-brothers wink and smile at me. Dude, I'm only enough to be your great times 10 grand mother.
