I find dad in the kitchen; sat on one of the stools and gazing into the back garden. I clear my throat to catch his attention.
He turns and smiles. But the smile's so fake I don't think even he believes it.
"Dad I know you might be worried..." I begin but his voice slices through the air.
"Worried, that's what you think," he scoffed turning more to reveal a glass, filled with what can only be alcohol.
"I'm am scared to death that one day I'll come home and you're not here or that you'll be dead," he picks up the glass and throws the remaining liquid down his throat. "I am so scared, I don't want to loose you Lily."
There are tears running down my face as he stands up and walks towards me. He stops infront of me and bends down slightly so we're face to face.
"Please Lily, tell me I don't have to be scared?!" He begs a single tear sliding down his cheek.
I leap into his arms and cry onto his chest.
"You don't have to be scared dad, I promise," I whisper kissing his cheek as I continue to cry.
