"What will you be having this morning ma'am?" The waiter asks.
I stare at the menu, careful not to make eye contact. Jacob reaches over and pries the menu out of my hands.
"She'll be having the full English breakfast without the mushrooms and black pudding," he smiles.
"And you sir?" He asks.
"English muffin and egg," he answers.
"Really?!" I say looking at him.
"What?" He asks shrugging his shoulders.
"No meat? I ask.
"No meat," he says.
"How come?" I ask resting my elbows on the table.
"I had a meat feast pizza at 1 o'clock this morning. I'm still working that off."
"And why were you having pizza at 1am?" Dad chimes in.
"Well, Lucus," he pauses, trying to come up with a reasonable explanation.
Dad smirks at him," Just felt like it?!"
Jacob nods," Yep." I smile.

"So what have you two been up to lately?" mum asks.
"We had a movie night last night," I say.
"We got into a fight," Jacob adds.
"What about?" Dad asks.
"I lost my temper," Jacob cuts in. "Over something stupid."
Dad raises his eyebrow.
"What was this stupid thing?" He asks.

This time I butt in. I squeeze Jacob's hand under the table.
"I flaked out on him. Last movie night, I ditched him for Max, and then yesterday I invited him to our movie night."
Mum turns to Jacob, and I squeeze his hand tighter.
"I got mad, shouted at her and left. I was being so stupid," he slams his fist on the table, making me jump.
The people on the surrounding tables turn to look at us.
"Sorry," Jacob mumbles not looking up from the table.
The people continue to stare; mum turns and shoots nasty glares at those people.
I rub Jacob's back.
"You need to calm down," I whisper to him.
Slowly, he lifts his head.
"Lucus, Amelia," he mumbles, standing up. "I'm really sorry."
He fishes out a £20 note from his pocket and places it on the table before walking out.
"What just happened?" Mum asks.
"I-I dunno," I say standing up and pulling on my jacket. "I'll be back soon."
Dad nods at me before I rush out of the restaurant.
