I bounce my way towards the "gateway to hell" in a particularly good mood. I brush down my mauve skirt and flatten my cropped white t-shirt as I prepare myself for yet another day of learning and socializing. I make my way over to my group of friends consisting of Tana, Carley Shaw, Harley Quint, Joe Davis, David Bean, and Logan Clifford. I'm particularly only close with Tana and Joe, although I used to be close to Logan up until he confessed that he liked me. I still love him as a friend just things are a bit awkward now.
I sit down at our table making small talk with Tana when none other than Dylan Fitch walks towards us. I guess I was right about him going to my school. Without glancing at me, he slaps Joes back saying hello. Wait, what?
"Hey buddy! Guys this is Dylan Fitch, we go way back." Everyone nods their head murmuring hellos then goes back to their previous conversations.
"You know Dylan?" I say with a surprised tone.
"Ah Saf, what a pleasure to see you again as well! Although you still haven't given me a call." He says dramatically along with his signature smirk.
"Hold up, how do you know Dylan?" Joe says aiming his question towards me.
"I'm his new neighbor, but I asked you first." I say sarcastically with my eyebrows raised, anticipating his answer.
"It's simple babe, as Joe said we go way back. Before he moved here, we both lived in New Jersey and now I got myself here and BOOM! Reunion!" He says as if it was obvious.
I grunt at him calling me babe and say goodbye to everyone, not including Dylan, heading off to my locker to get my things. I'm not in the mood to deal with this train wreck of a human today.
"HEY WHY YOU LEAVIN' SO SOON BABE!" Dylan whales behind me. I don't turn around to look but manage to flip him off as I continue leaving, the sound of him laughing his ass off gradually getting quieter.
Tan is busy drooling over Dylan to have walked with me so I'm on my own today. Fortunately, I've made myself quite popular with the student body so I greet anyone I recognize down the hall.
That's when I spot Lucas freaking Brown standing right next to my locker. Oh my god, oh my god! Is he waiting for me? No that would be ridiculous! But why is he at MY locker?
As my brain is taken over by my sudden anxiety I see Luke walking towards me waving.
"Uh, h-hi Luke, um Ta-Tana is in the cafeteria with everyone else waiting for cla-class to st-start.
Smooth Saf. Nice going. Biggest mental face palm ever.
"Actually I was looking for you." He says with the most eye catching smile ever.
There goes the butterflies.
"Oh, um okay well what's up I guess?" Okay not to bad Saf I can work with that. I say with a grin considering my lack of stuttering.
"I have two tickets to see NERVE in the Cinema and wanted to know if you would like to come see it with me."
Wait.... Is Lucas Brown asking me out? No, he's just asking to see a movie with him it's not a big deal. Ugh, darn it, false alarm.
"Yes, I am asking you out if you were wondering." He says with a jaw dropping smile.
As I begin to process what he just said I freak out. Mentally of course, I'm definitely not screwing stuff up so soon.
As my excited thoughts roam I realize he is waiting for my answer.
"Yeah I would love too!" I say as a dark red blush tickles my cheeks.
"Great, I'll pick you up around seven?"
"Perfect."
"Okay then, awesome, I gotta get to science now, see you later." He says with a gentle smile as he paces down to class.
OH MY GOD LUCAS FREAKING BROWN JUST ASKED ME OUT! I- SAFIYA VIOLET SMITH- AM GOING OUT WITH LUCAS TONIGHT!
Before being able to logically go over this fresh information, I run faster then I ever have before in my life in the direction of Tana Mono. When I think of it, I bet she didn't walk down with me because she knew he was going to ask me out. That stinker.
That's when I see Tana with a beaming smile looking my way. Yup, she totally knew about this. I have got to love my best friend, thank god it's her of all people.
"AGH! TANA I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!LUKE ASKED ME OUT OMG!"
"I KNOW IM SO HAPPY FOR YOU!" She replies with a beaming smile.
Tan engulfs me in a huge hug as I see Dylan behind us... Does he look, dare I say, maybe a little bit jealous?
That's ridiculous. Why would he be jealous? He barely even knows me. I'm literally going insane what the hell.
All that matters is that I'm going out with the guy I have had a crush on for as long as I can remember, and life couldn't be better.
