Not soon after Brian had finished in the hallway and everything was back into place, Billie was woken up by the loud beeping of her alarm clock. Groaning slightly she rolled over and not very gently smacked the top of the alarm clock with her flat hand. She still wasn't in a good mood. However she had to get up and face the day because her class would begin quite soon.
Not wanting to burn her eyes with the light of day she left the curtains closed for now. Trying to keep her balance she staggered over to the wardrobe, nearly tripping over a shirt that was lying on the ground. "Oh come on," she groaned and kicked the shirt away. When she had made it to the wardrobe she got dressed in a simple skirt and blouse before she was about to go out into the hallway.
However, just as she reached for the doorhandle she remembered how grumpy she had been to Brian before when she had been only half awake. Billie sighed heavily and rubbed her face. Great, now she had to deal with an upset boyfriend. She was curious if Brian had remembered to tidy up the hallway. She wasn't so sure about that.
Without her really wanting it she opened the door and walked outside into the hallway. Since Brian had left the door into the living room open, the hallway was filled with bright light, making Billie cover her eyes. Step for step she made her way into the living room, a little nervous of the moment she would run into Brian. She didn't really know what she should say to him. She knew she should probably apologise but she was so awkward in situations like these. If possible she preferred to avoid situations like those. It wasn't the best habit she had but she had to deal with it.
Eventually she could hear a record playing quietly, almost too quiet to hear it properly, but that meant it wasn't loud enough to disturb anyone. She sighed and looked down. Brian was very thoughtful.. Why did she think he had done what he had done on purpose, of course he hadn't done it on purpose. And also, he had tidied the hallway completely and all his things were stacked neatly in a corner. Billie closed her eyes and sighed. As much as she hated apologies she had to apologise to Brian. She owed that to him. He was so wonderful and she hadn't treated him the way he deserved to be treated without even knowing why. She decided to blame it on the fact the she had only gotten very little sleep.
When she stepped into the living room she was met with an oddly familiar, yet unfamiliar sight. Brian was sitting on her couch in his pyjama trousers with his guitar on his lap. Despite the record playing in the background he was fiddling with the strings, playing a soft melody. It sounded so beautiful to Billie. She liked his songs so much more than all the records she had. She hadn't seen this sight she liked so much in more than three months and she had missed it so much.
He looked really handsome how he was sitting there on his couch with his dark, fluffy curls framing his handsome face. She couldn't see much more of his face than his prominent nose because of his hair but she knew exactly what his face looked like. She was aware that it probably sounded like every romantic cliché novel ever, but she knew every curve of his face and every little dent and spot on his skin.
She liked looking at his profile, she liked his nose. She knew he thought it was too big but she always told him the same. She always said that she thought he would look weird with a smaller nose and that she liked his nose. Then she would kiss his nose very softly which always made him smile. Billie smiled to herself and looked down at her hands. She was lucky to have a wonderful guy like him in her life. In her flat.. on her couch in his pyjama.
She couldn't risk losing him because she was feeling a little weird lately. She would never forgive herself if she drove him away after all they had been through. The thing with her father, then Tenerife.. She couldn't make him think that she didn't appreciate him because she did appreciate him. She knew how wonderful they were together. Sure, sometimes it was a bit difficult, but whose life was perfect? Their life together didn't have to be perfect, it just had to be good enough to make both of them happy. If it took some time to get used to living together, then they were going to get that time to get used to each other. And if that meant that Brian would maybe accidentally wake her up early then she would live with that because she knew it would be worth it in the end, it would be wonderful to live with Brian in the end.
Billie let out a soft sigh and very slowly and quietly made her way over to the couch.
When Brian noticed her he jumped a little and looked up. He gulped and carefully placed his guitar down. "Hey.." His voice was quiet, as if he was nervous he would say the wrong thing and make her upset again.
Billie knew he didn't like making her upset. She remembered when he had told her he would have to go to Tenerife. It nearly had been worse for him because he hated seeing her so upset. "Hey.. May I?" She pointed to the free spot beside him and he nodded.
"Of course." He smiled timidly and pushed some of his curls behind his ear.
"Look, Brian, I owe you an apology. A big one. It wasn't fair how I treated you this morning. Anyone could have tripped over a shirt or trousers or something in a dark room, I did too. I'm sorry I snapped at you, please forgive me. I love you so much and I don't want to make you feel like I don't want you here. I do want you here, very much. It's so nice to wake up to you on my couch or in my bed and I don't want you to leave. Please stay. I love you." She smiled timidly at him and reached for his hand, hoping he would forgive her.
Brian returned the shy smile and looked down at their hands. "I love you too. Thank you for apologising. I'm really sorry I woke you up, I'm just a little clumsy, you know me." He chuckled softly, making Bilie smile more.
"Yes, I know you, of course I do. You're a little clumsy but very very loveable." She kissed his cheek softly and held his hand tightly. "Thank you for tidying the hallway."
Brian nodded and pulled her close, wrapping his arms around her tightly. He was incredibly relieved that Billie wasn't upset with him anymore and that she had immediately apologised to him. "I promised you I would."
Billie nodded and smiled timidly. "I know. And you're wonderful. Have you had breakfast yet?" Billie knew that Brian sometimes skipped his meals and she always tried to make sure he ate regularly, so when he shook his head she kissed his cheek and got up. "What do you want? Some yoghurt with fresh fruits?"
Brian nodded slowly. "Yes, that sounds nice. Do you need any help? I'll help you cut the fruits." He got up and placed his hands on her waist when he followed her into the kitchen.
Billie giggled softly and hugged him tightly before she got out everything they needed for their breakfast. This was what she wanted, the two of them happy together. She didn't need the bad moods and the churning in her stomach so she pushed those things aside so she could focus on the happy things, on Brian.
