The Woodshop Horror

Already, a week had gone by since Shiro's death. Class was never the same because of that. Rin told me about cases in which more than one student died in the same month. I finally understood why the class was still on edge even with it still being the same month. After another week went by, it has now been 2 weeks since Shiro died and it was already a new month.

During woodshop class, most of the students were being more careful than usual due to the belief that the calamity had started. In this particular assignment, we were using table saws to cut out the large amount of wood we needed. I turned my head to a neighboring table when I heard a loud noise that sounded like ripping fabric. A table saw had gotten hold of some of the fibers from my classmate's uniform and was pulling her rapidly toward its sharp, silvery blade. We had tried to cut the fabric that was pulling her inward but it was no use. We even tried pulling her away from the blade, but all that did was slow her down. At this point nothing was working and we had to act fast. Another girl named Akio had made an attempt to save her. She did succeed in saving our classmate, but at the cost of her own life. The saw had now grabbed Akio and dragged her directly down on the table where it then cut her in half. Instead of the blade cutting her in half at the waist, it cut her down the middle from top to bottom. In doing so it exposed all of her innards and brain. One half of her body fell off of the table and the other stayed on it. When one of the halves rolled off the table, the organs oozed out from the inside.  Deep red blood was showered down everywhere; it had drenched the table and everyone near it. The sight was uncontrollably vile and had caused a few students to throw up. Whatever students didn't throw up, excluding me, actually ended up throwing up because of a chain reaction set off by the first few. For some perplexing reason I was not as disturbed as I should be at the sight of these things. I was in that class so I was able to actually witness the gory scene before me. Unlike Shiro's death, I have seen with my own eyes the death of a classmate. I no longer I believe that I'm a normal person. I looked at the pile of gore that lay on the ground and glared at it with an emotionless stare. Most people might cry, get sick, or possibly even kill themselves if the person was important enough. I've become a monster; I do not recall when but I can no longer be fazed by death.

After they had cleaned up the class and carefully placed what remained of Akio on a stretcher, we began our next period. During class Rin pulled me to the side yet again. "I heard that you witnessed the woodshop horror," she said to me. "Why are you bringing this up during class?" I asked. "I came here to find out how to stop the curse permanently, it shouldn't matter when we talk about it because it's important," Rin replied angrily. "I get that you're trying to figure out why people are all dying, but why do we have to talk about this in class?" I asked, even more annoyed. "Look Tatsumi, the sooner this gets done the sooner I leave you alone," she says. I got an unfamiliar feeling, not like the eerie one before. After hearing the comment she had made, it was almost as if I was frightened to not see Rin again after she leaves.
