The Airport

I didn't want to get up, there was no point. No point at all. If Phil was truly gone, I didn't want to waste my energy on useless everyday things. I just sat sobbing quietly when I noticed that Louise was gone. Her suitcase... Everything.

I found a small piece of paper on the table, I picked it up and read

'Dan, I've left somewhere and will be back at around 3. You'll appreciate what I'm doing right now, I guarantee.

Love, Louiseeeeee <3<3<3'

I reread the letter many times, what was she doing? Nothing would cheer me up right now. Unless, by some miracle, Phil was still alive.

I didn't know what to do anymore. I wasn't hungry, I wasn't thirsty and I didn't need to upload or edit at all.

I just waited.

And waited.

Until something interesting happened.

Louise arrived at the apartment at the time that she said she would. 3. I ran to meet her, she was still red from the face from crying, but she didn't seem to be as upset, I was still crying as I helped her in.

"Dan. You're coming with me. Right now!"

"Louise. What the flip?!"

"Get in the car."

"What."

She then did something even more surprising... She pulled out a thick ribbon from her pocket and tied it around my eyes. A blindfold.

"LOUISE"

"Dan, Please... You'll like this."

"This sounds really wrong."

"It isn't, just please!"

I listened and stopped struggling. What was this?!

"Louise. Just. Where the hell are we going?"

"Please. It's kind of a long way.. Just be patient, Dan!"

I stayed silent and waited... I felt dizzy but resisted the temptation to vomit. I waited as if my life depended on it. Maybe it did. Louise was silent for the whole journey and so was I. We stopped abruptly, making my stomach lurch forward by force. I heard the brakes. I assumed that we ad arrived. I heard Louise exiting the car and opening mine.

"Come on, Dan... Hold my hand. There we go!"

"Am I keeping this thing on?"

"Until we get there."

I trusted her. I held her hand. She guided me through the cold frost. I then felt the wind turn into Air Conditioner and the floor felt smoother and made clunking noises when I walked. People were talking and I could tell that it was very busy, even if I couldn't see.

"Oh, Dan! Here he comes!"

"Who?!"

"Take off your blindfold and see for yourself!"

I was confused... Was this Chris or PJ? My hands were sliding across the blindfold and I took it off slowly; it was a tight knot. My eyes took a moment to adjust to the brightness. I was in the airport, it was certainly much busier than usual. The flight read 'Orlando, Florida to London, England'. I gasped. Injured people were flooding through the gate. Some had broken bones, others had bleeding bruises and wounds. It looked terrible. Many were smiling and crying, walking over to their families. Now I understood. These were a fraction of the survivors from the earthquake.

When almost all of the people were reunited with their loved ones, a tall man with very dark black hair and electric blue eyes walked out of the gate, standing with the help of crutches. His leg was wrapped in plaster and his face was bruised. He was dragging a black suitcase and had a backpack sliding down his shoulders. My face lit up.
