Arthur sat down on the bench next to Kiku. The sun was shining up at the sky and it was just a better day, with a few clouds though.
"It's a better day." Kiku commented his eyes up at the sky. Arthur looked up as well. Though he couldn't get his thoughts to stop thinking and going back. His memories kept on swinging back to the other day, he was concerned. Concerned about Francis, and that is what bugged him. He couldn't seem to go through an hour without thinking about Francis. He let out a sigh. "Did you do the history essay?"
"I kissed Francis." This made Kiku let out gasp. His dark eyes wide and he was really taken back.
"What...?"
"It wasn't really a kiss. It was just a peck." Arthur ran his hand through his hair, frustrated at Francis and himself. Kiku shook his head and collects himself.
"A peck he liked? One you liked?" Kiku felt like squealing but kept it. Arthur's ear pierced red and he looked away.
"It doesn't matter. He can't date me." As painful as it is, he knew it was true. Kiku frowned.
"Why not?"
"His parents." Was all Arthur had to say, his shoulder slumped forward and he had a frown on his lips. It stung.
"Oh." This was followed by a silence. Kiku has been friends with Arthur long enough to know that his parents weren't that great as well. He didn't know how Arthur feels after all he had been through and is still going through, he just couldn't relate. But that didn't stop him on given advice, he always tried his best. "And what about Francis? How does he feel?'
"He did like the kiss, but he only wanted a kiss because he never kissed a boy. He didn't kiss me because he liked me." Arthur grumbled out the last part his arms crossed and he leaned into the bench. Kiku watched carefully nodding his head.
"But he still wanted to kiss you." Kiku pointed out bluntly when Arthur looked at him he just shrugged. "You said so."
"He also called me pretty, like what the hell?" Kiku chuckled at that, Arthur obviously not happy about being called pretty.
"It's because he is a pretty boy. So he calls everyone else pretty as well." Arthur stared at Kiku for a moment before looking back at the sky.
Pretty boy. He sure is one.
"Francis!" You're coming to practice today?"
"Ah, yes I am." Francis closed his locker door and had his biology book in his arms, and then he smiled when he saw that it was Jamie, a team member of the swimming team as well. "And you?"
"Yeah 'course! Hopefully it won't rain today." Jamie rubbed his head before throwing on his hoodie over it. Francis looked out the window.
"To me the day looks fine."
"You never know, the weather is crazy here." Jamie said before waving goodbye and jogging to his other friends. Francis walked towards the window, and did see clouds. But they were white fluffy clouds not the grey ones. He tried to picture what they were but couldn't make them out so he just stared for a while. He doesn't really have anything else to do. Ten more minutes till the bell rings and then his last class will start. He thought about yesterday and how sweet that kiss was from yesterday. The way they looked into each other's eyes, it was too much like a movie. The only thing that did not fit into that movie was the parents, parents were always supposed to be happy for their child encourage them or teach them. Its weird for the child to teach the parent, even though it's becoming less and less weird these days, there wasn't one time that Francis knew the answer to something and not his parents. He looked down at the grass outside. Memories of back when they were in France came flashing by and he could still remember that day his own Uncle came out to his family including him. Francis immediately felt happy when he saw the way his uncle was smiling, so happy, and he did not want to make that smile wash away, but before he could even say anything or express any kind of support the others start saying really bad things and his grandmother was crying. Francis remembered asking why she was crying
"Why are you crying grandma?"
"Because you're Uncle Leonce, is sick." He never looked sick.
"But why is he happy then, if he is sick?"
She didn't answer, Francis mother just ushered the little boy away into his room, where he had to somehow block all the yelling coming from downstairs. And by the next morning Uncle Leonce wasn't at the breakfast table
"Where is Uncle Leonce?"
"He left yesterday."
"But why he was so happy?"
"He is not happy! He sick!!" Little Francis felt his eyes tear up as it was the first time his grandfather had ever yelled at him. He got off the table his head hung low.
"I don't feel hungry." Before he ran up the stairs and locked himself in his room. Two years later they got an invitation to a wedding, Francis didn't know about it and no one went to it, only a year later Uncle Leonce came back at the funeral of his father. Some told him to go away that he did not have the right to come after what he did especially with his husband. But Francis saw him and walked to him, gave him a gentle smile before grabbing his hand and leading him to the funeral. "He wants you to be here, and he wants to be happy. But he was just sad, he was sad all the time after you left. He missed you, I know he told me. He told me he is sorry."
"That doesn't mean the others are sorry, they look at me like I am the greatest sin of all."
"They will come around, they just think you're sick."
"I'm not sick."
"I know. But they are just...confused?" Francis wasn't sure why they were all angry at Uncle Leonce. After the funeral ended Uncle Leonce introduced his husband to Francis and his mother. When it came to say goodbye Leonce said to Francis that he was an angel and:
"A pretty boy you are Francis, has anyone told you that?" Francis shook his head. "Well I know that there will be people noticing your grace."
"Hey Francis you're coming or what?"
"Huh?"
"The bell rang. C'mon pretty boy."
Oh. Francis smiled at Jamie and they both got into their last class of the day.
