The one thing PR has taught me is that even the professionals can make a mistake. The mistake can be small or big, but the fundamental definition is still the same. Defined by Google, a mistake is: an act or judgement that is misguided or wrong.

Accidental.

I didn't think how my actions could lead me...us...to where they did. I can blame who I want but that won't change anything; it has happened now and as of yet there is no magical device to transport you back in time.

I inwardly sighed and opened my eyes to check my phone. I had muted all of my social media notifications because they had been driving me insane over the course of the morning. Once the message is out there, it really is capable of spreading like wildfire. And this time, that is by no means a positive thing.

He hadn't replied still.

The other person had, though, not that his several messages made a difference. I didn't care about him.

A few stray tears rolled down my cheek as I threw my phone across the bed and stared up at the ceiling. For once, I really did not know what to do with myself.

Twenty-four hours earlier...

I had never been to Mexico and as we explored more and more of the city, the more the country surprised me. Mexico City is a megacity, which essentially means it is absolutely huge with over 15 million people crammed into an area which is sinking.

Our whole team had been pretty taken back by it all- the racetrack and the fans exceeded all of our initial expectations. This Grand Prix was going to be one to remember, no matter what the outcome of the weekend would be.

Media had been a bit of a strange one out here. As it was the first F1 event in the country for some time, no one really knew how much air time the sport would get in the host nation. However, Bridget need not have been worried. As soon as our PR team rocked up at the race track, they had been working from dawn until dusk. Mexico loved F1 and F1 was quickly beginning to love Mexico.

Lizzie and I had been two days late to the party, but that didn't mean we had two days off. The pair of us had made up for it and more from Wednesday to now- Sunday. The only time Daniel and I had been together was when we were sleeping. Other than that, I'd had lunch with him twice and breakfast once. Both of us had just been so busy.

Now, it was an hour to lights out and the sun was shining high in the sky. Fans already cheered, waiting in the stands in immense anticipation.

I wiped the sweat from my forehead and briefly lifted up my sunglasses to wipe beneath my eyes. I had sunscreen in them which had been irritating me since 9am. The shades were now a necessity unless I wanted people to think that I was having some sort of breakdown. Which I was in fact very close to actually doing.

I needed a cold shower and five minutes to relax.

"Saskia!" A cold hand on my shoulder caused me to spin round, ready for whatever was going to be thrown at me next. As long as it wasn't more media requests! "Are you doing anything tonight?"

Oh, it was Nico.

"Um, not really..." I began, wanting a quiet one in with Dan but knowing I wasn't going to get it. Josh and he were jetting off to Miami for some events. I would join them the following afternoon- not working as such but just to spend some time with my fiance. As Head of Travelling Communications, I was needed until late this evening at the track.

"Cool, Lewis has tigers!" Nico beamed, taking his cap off and sweeping back his long hair. "And baby lions."

My heart stopped. Actual animals? Probably, this was Lewis Hamilton here- the man who got just about everything he wanted.
