The lady knocked on the door and informed Anne that we wanted to meet her. A muffled groan escaped the room. A few moments later the door opened and I was met with a pair of wide hazel eyes that seemed to change colors every second. She had a pale freckled face. She seemed shell shocked. Dan let go of my hand and stooped to her level.

"Hi Anne," he said gently.

She snapped out of her trance and cleared her throat.

"It's Quinn actually," she mumbled.

"Why Quinn?" I asked.

"'Cause I people tend to call me 'Little orphan Annie' so I use my middle name." I smiled. I wasn't the only one to make that comparison.

"So we read your file and-" Dan was cut off.

"You read my file?!"

"Uh yeah."

"So why are you still here?" She asked and my heart broke. She expected people to reject her after reading her file.

"Because we want to adopt you," I replied and she shook her head.

"I'm not a kid anymore. You don't want me."

"And why is that?" Dan questioned.

"Because you'll miss all the cute years and go right into the teenage years."

"I won't regret not having to change diapers and potty train you." I pointed out.

She sighed, defeated.

"So tell us more about you?" Dan changed the subject.

"I like P!ATD, FOB, MCR, TOP, Muse, and The Killers. I spend a lot of time on the internet. I have no friends. My parents died when I was 9," She rambled.

"We like those bands! Muse is our favorite" She didn't meet our eyes when Dan said that.

"Um, do you know what YouTube is?" I asked ready to drop the bomb. She shrugged and again wouldn't meet our eyes. Dan nudged me and shook his head. Not now.

"Ok, do you have any questions for us?"

"I have a list somewhere...homophobic, obviously not, transphobic probably not, racist?-" she met our eyes and we shook our heads. "-no, sexist?-" again we shook our heads. "What do you do for a living?" she asked again not meeting our eyes.

"Um," I looked at Dan questionably.

"We work in advertisement." Kind of true.

"K," She responded simply.

"Well, it was great meeting you," I wrapped up the conversation.

"Yeah."

"Good bye," And with that we walked out.
