Then he gets an idea and calls in the nurses

Brings up the chaplain and he says a couple verses

He borrows some rings from the couple next door

Everybody's laughing as the tears fall on the floor

He looks into his eyes, and he says

"Danny?" I asked as I played with Dan's ring.

"Yes Philly?" I took a deep breath.

"When you get out of here, I want to reschedule our wedding." Dan looked confused, and maybe a little hurt.

"No, no, no, not like that. I want to make it sooner. This whole situation made me realise that we don't have an infinite amount of time in this world, and I just want to be able to officially call you mine as soon as I can." Dan gives me a weak smile before holding out his pinky finger for me to wrap my own around.

Then I got an idea.

"Wait, I'll be right back." I step outside and call my friend PJ. Dan and Chris, PJ's husband, are pretty much best friends, and because of that fact, the four of us moved into two houses right next to each other and have been neighbors for years.

"Hello?" He answers.

"Hey Peej, could you come down to the hospital? Like, right now? And bring Chris?"

"Wait what happened? Are you okay? Is Dan okay? I'm literally carrying Chris into my car right now. We'll be there in five."

I let out a sad chuckle. "I'm fine. Dan's not doing so great, though."

"Oh, Phil. We're almost there."

"I thought you said five minutes?"

"I lied. Don't tell Dan." He laughs softly.

"Alright, see you soon." I hang up. As I walk back into Dan's room, I look up the number for the chaplain down the road. I save it into my contacts and sit down, taking my fiance's hand after pressing the button to call the nurses.

They come running into the room with Chris and PJ, the two boys immediately tearing up at the scene before them.

Dan gives me a confused look, and all I do is kiss him gently before getting up and telling the nurses my plan and bringing my friends outside of the room with me to tell them also and call the chaplain.
