He finishes the vows but the beeps are getting too slow

His voice is almost too low

As he says, "I love you forever, forever and always

Please just remember even if I'm not there

I'll always love you, forever and always."

I walk into the room with two borrowed rings hidden in one hand and my phone in the other, the chaplain patiently waiting on the line.

"Hey Bear?" Dan only hums in response. "You know how I said I wanted to have the wedding sooner? How would you feel about having it now?" He gives me a strange look.

"How?" He asks quietly. I smile at him softly.

"I've got the chaplain on the phone," I hold my hand out, revealing the rings, "and Chris and PJ let me borrow their rings. What do you say, Howell?"

"Hey, that's Lester in about five minutes!" He jokes.

"Yeah, I guess it is." I laugh as tears start to form at the corners of my eyes.

I smile thankfully at the other couple in the room, and they nod their heads, also crying. Even some of the nurses are tearing up.

I put the man on the phone on speaker and tell him he can start.

"Friends, we have joined here today to share with Daniel James Howell and Phillip Michael Lester an important moment in their lives. Their time together, they have seen their love and understanding of each other grow and blossom and now they have decided to live out the rest of their lives as one. Who gives Daniel to wed?"

Dan looks slightly panicked, as both of our families are on vacation. I place my hand on top of his and give him a reassuring look as Chris says, proudly, "I do. Christopher James Kendall."

"And who gives Phillip to wed?"

"Me, PJ Liguori."

"You may now say your vows."

"I want you forever, forever and always, through the good and the bad and the ugly. We'll grow old together, and always remember, whether happy or sad or whatever, we'll still love each other, forever and always. I, Phil Lester, take you Dan Howell, to be my husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death do us part" I say, starting to choke up.

"I, Dan Howell, take you Phil Lester, to be my husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death do us part." Dan responds, giving me the most loving look anyone has ever given me. His heart rate starts to slow, and everyone but him notices. We all try to ignore it, and even though it gives the wedding a sense of urgency, no one tries to rush us.

"Each of you take the other's ring in hand." I give Dan his choice of the two rings, and we continue.

"Do you both know what to say for the exchange of rings?" The phone says.

"Dan doesn't, but I can say it first so he knows."

"Alright, go ahead." He says.

"I, Phil, give you, Dan, this ring as an eternal symbol of my love and commitment to you." I slowly slide the ring onto the ring finger of his right hand, because his left has a cast on it.

""I, Dan, give you, my amazing Phil, this ring as an eternal symbol of my love and commitment to you." He slides the ring onto my finger as I notice his voice getting lower with every word he says.

The man on the phone clears his throat before finishing the ceremony. "Do you, Phil, take Dan to be your husband?"

"I do." I answer confidently, not breaking eye contact with my almost-husband.

"Do you, Dan, take Phil to be your husband?"

"I do."

"I now present to you, Dan and Phil Lester. You may now kiss the groom while I go back to bed." We all laugh through our tears as I lean in and kiss my husband.

"I love you forever, forever and always. Please just remember even if I'm not there, I'll always love you, forever and always." He says, drifting to sleep.

"I love you too. So, so much."
