Part Five
Later that week, Shane decided to visit Venice. A lot of shopping and buying things had been going when she got there. They also had late night movies, and walk down the beach. It had been five months since Shane saw Finnick again, since he had to go away due to some commitments. Shane was happy enough to let him go, but thinking about it, she felt giddy and anxious as she thought about him coming home soon.
Shane and Venice spent the days shopping which had been a normal routine for them. Buying crappy things that they normally didn’t need, nor keep for long. After the endless movie marathon, Venice tugged at her ponytail which had been her friend’s favourite habit. It was meaning that she bored.“Come on, I want to go out” Venice stood up, and stuck her hand out to her. Shane reluctantly took it, feeling slightly doubtful.
Venice’s ‘I want to go out’ means to go to club and mingle. Shane stood by the doorway, waiting for her friend as she finished her touch-up. Venice always take longer that she should whenever she puts her make-up on.Half an hour later, Shane stood beside her friend as they made their way inside the club. Sweaty bodies and a loud Miley Cyrus song were playing. She noticed a girl sitting on one of the stool, fingertips pressing away on the keyboards.
Venice grabbed hold of her hand, dragging Shane with her as they made their way to the bartender whom had an interest on Venice. It was obvious, and she wonder if Venice could see it.
And then she saw him. His tall height standing out against all people, looking handsome than ever. It was Red. As if sensing someone was looking at him, he looked around and met Shane’s gaze.
Shane couldn’t even remember the time when she last looked him straight in the eye, it had felt like forever. Red raised his hand as a gesture, and Shane waved. Out of nowhere, warm, masculine hands gripped her forearm. Shane turned around to see Finnick standing before her.
She didn’t know how long she stood there, just looking. “Finnick?” she whispered, finally closing her mouth before her jaw dropped to the floor.
“Hi,” Finnick said, looking slightly shy as she checked him out. His hair cut short, giving him a boyish-but-cute look.
“You’re here!” Shane squealed, throwing her arms around his neck. Judging by his stiff posture, she had caught him by surprise. “I can’t believe it! When did you get here?”
“I just got here, Venice texted me. She said you guys went out, so I didn’t tell you I was coming home today. I wanted it to be a surprise” he grinned, and leaned down to kiss her on the lips.
Shane totally lost it. She tightened her arms around him, and pulled him even closer. His lips was warm and soft against hers, sending a chill down her spine. She missed this, this closeness she hadn’t shared with anyone else.
They broke apart to get some air, and realization hit Shane.Red. She completely forgot about him, Shane dropped her arms and looked around. Sure as it was, Red was standing a few away from them. Observing, but did not say anything.
Red had seen everything.
